Clinton takes West Virginia

Hardly a shock but Hillary Clinton looks like she's going to win West Virginia. As has been mentioned before by this writer what is particularly disgusting is the shameless efforts by members of the national media to push the former First Lady out of the race.

Perhaps the most important factor in the coverage of Mountain State's primary is that after tonight Americans won't be subjected to cliche'd and hackneyed use of John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by television producers and headline writers with their coverage.

So Obama is still being hailed as the presumptive presidential nominee. And that just may be. Tonight however Hillary burned Barack's CMA Award envelope...

If you're a country music fan (or Super Troopers fan) you get the analogy.

Of course the real theme song of tonight and with all the skullduggery that is no doubt taking place in the Democratic National Committee and both presidential campaigns the appropriate song for tonight comes from the Silver Fox himself, Charlie Rich.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors...

1. Boy, that John Denver video must be from the early 70s. Judging by his haircut and clothes. Of course Country Roads was his first big hit. Actually I always liked that song.

2. The only thing I see that is shameless is:
1) Hillary's use of the race card (in reverse) to scare up white votes:
2) Worse, the fact that she is only in the race at this point to weaken Obama so he looses against McCain.

She is waiting for 2012, when she can have that smug look on her face and that exaggerated head nodding and say, "I told you so." Then sail through the Democratic primaries.

Good news if you'd like to see McCain win the general elections. Bad news if you, like me, hope to never have to see Hillary in the national limelight again.

The only thing mysterious about all of this is how in the heck she manages to get white guys to vote for her. Even among Democrats. Hillary and her legions of disaffected extreme gender feminists (mostly bitter white women) are the worst thing to happen to men, fathers, and boys since ... well, gosh, there has never been anything worse.

Wright seems tame by comparison.

3. somewhere, quietly to himself Barack Obama whispered "Allahu Ackbar" as a tear ran down his cheek. "Vengeance shall be mine"

5. Things aren't going very well for the Republicans these days. Democrats won the special election in Louisiana's 6th CD -- which Bush carried overwhelmingly in 2004 -- just 10 days ago, and will likely win the special election today in Mississippi's 1st CD -- which Bush also carried overwhelmingly in 2004.

If Republicans can't hold onto supposedly safe congressional seats in the reddest districts in red states, how can they avoid losing more ground in congress this fall?

8. Clinton "winning" WV is a good thing. Her fighting on to win the Dem nomination will further to divide the party even more. This is the best thing that McCain could hope for.

This would be a good race for an indy to run.
Anyone other than the Dems or the GOPs. had enough of both.

10. Hey Michelle:

"With all precincts reporting, the Democratic nominee, Prentiss County Chancery Clerk Travis Childers, defeated Republican Greg Davis, 54 to 46 percent. Childers was able to expand his three-point margin of victory from the race's first round of balloting last month -- even as he faced an onslaught of Republican attacks.

The victory marks the Democrats' third straight special election pickup in three months. It will be a serious blow to the Republican Party's already-flagging morale and will surely prompt a new round of finger-pointing among the already fractured GOP caucus."

If the Republican brand were dogfood, they would take it off the shelf.
