See Anyone You Like?
A couple non-incumbent candidates for the Legislature have caught my eye thus far this year and I'll spend some more time looking at them at a little later date. For now, I would welcome tips in the comments (or at ericearling at gmail dot com) on candidates that have impressed you thus far. Given our top 2 primary situation, that can certainly include Democrats, particularly in "safe" districts.
Thanks in advance, and as always, thanks for reading.

1. Not too much help here but I'll offer this.
Regarding politics - the best 'would be' candidates are not politicians, they're in the corporate world and they have too much saavy to lend themselves to the world of political hype.
I'm sure there are a few out there that are genuinely trying to 'help the public' but the real movers & shakers won't partake. It's too bad; as many problems could be solved with practical 'get-it-done' types. I know that doesn't sound like a progressive liberal thought but as I've said, I'm a person voter, not a party hack. Lo siento mucho!
2. Bruce Dammeier (spelling?)25th LD
Kevin Parker 6th LD
Jan Angel 26th LD
Joseph James 17th LD
Toby Nixon (duh!) 45th LD
Mike Hope 44th LD
3. Duffer,

How on Earth does Gregoire warrant your vote over Rossi then? Has she ever run a business that needed to keep an eye on the bottom line? From looking at her bio, she's been working for the government since 1971. Walk it like you talk it, bro.
4. It's not that she's so great...it's the choice we're left with! And, from a strictly objective standpoint - she's better lookin! :)
5. better looking?! boy you've got some beer goggles on! But I guess that's why they call you duffman.
6. #5 Haha...yeah a bit of a stretch I know, but I do prefer 'women'.
7. Duffer is, unfortunately, gifted with situational ethics. That is, it's "different" when applied to democrats.
To that end, he couldn't actually support either presidential candidate remaining on the d ticket, given that neither of them have any real world experience outside of government... and that certainly represents something of an oxymoron.
8. Nope, wrong again there smegma-breath absolutely no agape love involved in my decision-making. :)
9. smegma-breath
LOL
Not approving of the name-calling, but that does take me back a few years. Haven't heard that one in a loooong time.
10. Yeah...had a 'friend(?)' who used to call me that a lot...made me wonder and buy lots of 'Certs'! :)
[No offense, there Sir Hinton]
11. Duffie, you sure your not 30yr old.
12. Eric:
Keep an eye north of you on the 10th district races. Linda Haddon seems a good GOP candidate against Mary Margaret Haugen. A third person has jumped in, I suspect to try to take votes away from Haddon. Somenone named Sarah Hart and her C-1 first indicated she was a member of the "Cool Rock Party" and now she is a member of the "America's Third Party"
Norma Smith, who was appointed to replace Chris Strow, has an opponent Timothy Knue who is doing a decent job raising money. And there is a three way race in Barbara Bailey's (GOP) seat with Patricia Terry and Ann McDonald. Terry has raised the most money of the two D's.
Also, keep an eye on Kastama's seat down in the Puyallup area. Lynn Wallace just announced as the GOP candidate. She is a well connected through the business community and I think was the president or chair of the Puyallup Chamber. She will be a very effective suburban republican candidate. She's getting a late start but I think it will make it interesting.
13. Also in the 17th: Micheline Doan,R
14. Go to www.hroc.us and look under candidates tab. We have over 40 filed challenge candidates as of this week. We will be filing more prior to June 6th so keep checking back for updates. We have county commissioners, city council members, school board members, police officers, small business owners, hospital trustees, former county prosecutors, teachers, coaches, veterans (a naval and air force academy graduate), technology executives and community leaders that have all stepped up to challenge the status quo in Olympia.
Please consider helping out your local legislative candidate.
15. Shirley Hankins announced her retirement today, so that's an open position in the 8th.
16. Hopefully Norma Smith will be a more conservative voice in Olympia than the guy she replaced! The 10th already has a rock solid conservative in Barbara Bailey and looks to add Linda Haddon.
17. Duffer, you're lips are moving again. And you lie so very badly.
