Pick Your Poison

On one hand a huge spike in voter turnout could boost Obama in Pennsylvania tomorrow. On the other, Clinton's habit of gaining steam as lower-income voters tune into the election late in the game offers hope for the double-digit win she needs.

The polling disaster in New Hampshire was in no small part a function of elevated turnout in late breaking, pro-Clinton constituencies. Concurrently, Clinton outperformed final polling in Ohio. Will shedo it again in the Keystone State?

Waiting...

1. She will win by six to eight points. A win, but not the blowout she needs to convince the super's she is the "one."

There will be a frank discussion between her campaign staff and the party elders. Some poor smuck will get the short straw and be tasked with the odorous task of breaking the sad and harsh news: "Hillary, you're not gonna be our nominee."

3. It's been fun, but it's time to get on to trashing Republicans.

We need to convince those ten percent of our citizens who regard themselve as "independent" that 40% of our citizenry is insane.

4. I just saw a poll predicting that Obama will win. It is at www.hiloa.com It is interesting to see mobile communities being used to for polling. While I think the prediction is wrong, it seems to match well with the demographic who uses their cell phone for daily activities. I think we are going to see a lot more polls using cell phones for gathering information.

Watergate-era Republican backs Obama
Posted: 04:40 PM ET

"Wiliam Ruckelshaus endorsed Obama Thursday.
(CNN) -- From the politics/strange bedfellows file: Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has won an endorsement from Republican and former Nixon Watergate figure William D. Ruckelshaus....

The former Nixon FBI director and secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency hopes to help Obama defeat Democratic rival Sen. Hillary Clinton in the May 6 primary in Ruckelshaus' homestate of Indiana. The state has been a longtime Republican stronghold in presidential politics.

"Senator Obama's ability to attract not only Democrats, but also Republicans and Independents, makes him uniquely qualified to build the broad coalitions needed to address our nation's challenges," said Ruckelshaus in a statement.

Obama leads Clinton in Indiana 40 percent to 35 percent, with a 25 percent of respondents saying they're unsure who they'll vote for, according to a Los Angeles Times poll conducted April 10-14. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The Obama campaign said it was embracing the endorsement because of Ruckelshaus' "understanding of the importance of transparency," which he gained during the tumultuous years of the Nixon administration, said Obama spokesman Kevin Griffis. Ruckelshaus remains a known and respected name in Indiana, which may draw independent voters to Obama, Griffis said.

What exactly are the politics of this endorsement?

7. Mrs Clinton will win in Penn by double-digit percentage points and will again re-kick-start her campaign into high gear. Much like the EverReady bunny she never tires or quits and with a strong Penn win I believe she can go on and do well in the remaining states. I understand that Sen Obama has apparently refused to enter into another debate with Mrs Clinton and I think this will hurt him. Mrs Clinton (in the end) WILL be able to make a case as the stronger candidate with the super delegates and in that I believe they (the super delegates) owe her, I think she can still pull this off!

8. I wish that the Democratic clown party will just continue their bloodletting within to pick a lessor to run against McCain. Luckily, both the empty suit and the empty pantsuit both fit that bill of a lessor candidate. All of us on the right are just giddy that liberal thinking is destroying the Democrat party as it illustrates the fallacies that their ideology embraces. I say let the navel-gazing continue over whether gender trumps race or vice versa...all the way to the convention which may resemble Chicago 1968. In the meantime, Senator McCain gains points amongst independents that are tired of the 3 ring circus going on with the left and settle in on a true leader from the right of center.

Once again, substance will win over empty rhetorical style in 2008.

Thanks for the reminder ME. I need to get over to Goldie's site and donate. He does provide some entertaining posts at times and he is certaintly modest in his request for support.

10. One request is for cash to build up the site and the other is asking for a handout because, well, he was short of cash due to whatever the guy's problem was.

So, if a female idiot is a Ditz, does that make a male a Witz? Sounds about right regarding the comments above.

11. By the way ME, a couple of other quick questions:

You seem to be somehow threatened by this type of appeal. I'm not sure why. Public Radio and politicians use it to good effect all the time. It's purely voluntary. Would you contribute financial support to Shark and Soundpolitics?

Also, what's up with the all caps post? Are you screaming at me or is your Caps Lock key broken?

12. Where I grew up, a "swatter" was a little flat piece of plastic with a long wire handle. We used it to kill flies. Consequently, we were trained to regard it in the same manner with which we used another household tool, a large rubber suction cup with a long wooden handle. Both were to be kept out of sight, handled with care, and known to be potentially toxic. Both were useful to perform certain unpleasant tasks, but neither was anything we found esthetically pleasing.

13. Of course, I would prefer an Obama win or close finish. That is a Duh! statement. I want this to be over. Each day it goes on, Hillary gets more and more desperate, and her crew comes up with new forms of spinning never heard of before. For instance, Mother Jones has asked Wolfson repeatedly at the morning campaign conference calls with the press to clarify Hillary's position to Bill's pardoning two of the Weatherman group. His response is that Hillary believes a "Pardon is a pardon." That is the quote and spin. Don't answer the question restated the question by using the definition of the act as the answer. It makes depends on what the meaning of Is is an afterthought.

Posted by: tc on April 22, 2008 07:34 AM
14. Exactly. Good summary. Yes, a "swatter" is a pest eliminator.

I don't see how Democrats can walk around in public any more.

The only people who are voting for Clinton are senile ignorant diehard racists.

17. Anyone know if Rush is encouraging PA votes to go for Clinton like he did in TX?

With 10mil in debt I don't know how much longer she can hold on to her pipe dream of winning the nomination.

What do you think Duffie, will she make it to OR on May 20th?

Posted by: Cato on April 22, 2008 11:27 AM
18. #16 Do you even realize the idiocy of that statement?

#17 Oh Yes...I'm thinking today's outcome may surprise many. [Hopefully, not me.] :)

Posted by: Duffman on April 22, 2008 12:21 PM
19. #18: Hehe, got any numerical predictions? =)

She is going to need something like a 30 point victory in order to keep pretending she's relevant. =P

Posted by: Cato on April 22, 2008 12:42 PM
20. I'm actually thinking between 15 and 20 % points...and I think in her mind she will ALWAYS be relevant...but a double-digit win will (I think) keep her very relevant in the minds of the super-dels. :)

21. Uncle Wiz: In my very conservative family, we were taught to wash and disinfect the fly swatter and toilet plunger after use. I guess liberals prefer to hide the problems and let them fester, rather than cleaning them up.

22. Early exit polls looking bad for Hillary...4 point win. Not enough to say she's still credible.

Posted by: Cato on April 22, 2008 05:07 PM
23. Cato: I can't believe you have any confidence at all in exit polls!

Posted by: katomar on April 22, 2008 05:18 PM
24. About half an hour ago they started calling PA for Hillary with about a 10 point margin. How are those exit poll numbers working for you, Cato?

25. Uh....quite honestly...I want neither Obama or Hilary in office. The thought of either of them as my Commander-in-Chief....it is a little nauseating....neither of them seem like very good choices, they are both hypocrites. Of course...being honest...I don?t much prefer McCain over them either..All I know is our Nation is going to the dogs...
