I'm taking a break from the blog for about a week. It's time for a little recharge, some local enjoyment of one my true passions in life and the chance to see some Olympic athletes before this summer, plus a getaway with my wife. Not truly befitting our 10th Anniversary, but as much as her college schedule and our kids in private school budget allow.
Stay out of trouble. And if you don't, make it big enough I can read about it when I get back.

Almost as bad as our deployment to Seattle in '94 when Kirby's Krazies took the high ground at Westlake. KKKVI, Gunny Godden called 'em."
Hillary flipped the grenade to her other hand, brought a match to sudden brilliant flame by striking against her three-day stubble, and lit the cheroot. She didn't inhale.
She flicked the guttering match into the vast conspiratorial darkness of the transport. "So here's what we gotta do, Howlers. Corkscrew through the flak and hit the ground running, just like always. Lay down fields of fire. Then we rendezvous at the camera emplacement. Courik knows where it's at. Any questions, Commandos? No questions? So it's just like always. We grab out nuts and go. Only fools wanna live forever, and our mamas didn't raise no fools, did they, Howlers? Let's roll."
Gravel, a former Democratic senator from Alaska, said in an e-mail that the Democratic Party "no longer represents my vision for our great country."
