What a splendid day to view what passes for critical thought in some liberal circles. Behold today's P-I opinion page:
1) An unsigned editorial expressing utter befuddlement about the situation in Iraq based on the number of US & Iraqi forces on the ground versus the estimated number of terrorists/insurgents. The totality of human history involving sustained guerrilla warfare in a nation state essentially rebuts the P-I's assertion that all should be ok. Funny thing, terrorists and insurgents don't simply line up, in uniforms, on the field of battle, to receive the whipping they so richly deserve.
2) A Sunday Short from Kenneth Bunting expressing amazement that the head of a large bureaucracy, in this case a Cabinet Secretary, isn't actually briefed on every major issue in their agency in an immediate and thorough manner. Government doesn't move as quickly as it should, especially when employees must spread the news of mistakes on their watch. Stunning.
3) A letter to the editor from man-about-the-blogosphere (and sometimes Sound Politics commenter) Richard Borkowski. In short, Richard says the Iraq war is going as planned for George W. Bush and company. Long and gory - aided and abetted by those gutless Democrats in Congress - so the grand masters of Halliburton have time to loot Iraq of oil and other ill-gotten goods.
Thanks for clearing that up, though you forgot to mention the Trilateral Commission. I like those guys.
