"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position" (II)

Senator John Kerry at the New Bedford (MA) Standard-Times

It would be such an affirmation of who we say we are as a people if we can elect an African American president, a young leader who is obviously visionary and got an ability to inspire people...It will give us an ability to talk to those countries, to in some cases go around their dictator leaders to the people and inspire the people in ways that we can't otherwise...[he can help] bridge the divide with religious extremism, maybe even give power to moderate Islam
Why does Kerry believe Obama has credibility on that issue?
Because he's African American. Because he's a black man, who has come from a place of oppression and repression through the years in our own country.
I think it's fair to suggest that if Obama was a white man, Kerry would not have made that argument in his favor.

1. By this logic if we would have elected John F'n we would be on better relations with every country run by bloomin' idiots.

2. "obviously visionary"

Obvious to who? I don't see any vision here except liberal dogma attached to big, all encompassing, government.

The only coming together that Obama, that bum Kerry and his ilk subscribe are if conservatives and Republicans start seeing things their way. I don't know about you folks but I've had enough of that already.

3. Since Kerry has now confirmed everything Ferraro said, does that mean she still has to apologize?

4. "...bridge the divide with religious extremism, maybe even give power to moderate Islam"

Been tried. Can you say detente? Appeasement? Soviet Union? We don't need another Neville Chamberlain. We need leader who will deal with the people that want to kill us harshly and without remorse. Know anybody?

5. Since Kerry has now confirmed everything Ferraro said, does that mean she still has to apologize?

I don't think she has to worry, she never apologized in the first place. =)

7. The Ferraro comment on race was a well-executed tactic by the Clintons. Ferraro makes a statement that most know to be true and there is a certain base in our population that it will appeal to. Clintons then remove her from the campaign (all planed in advance), reject Ferraro's statement (also planned), and set her free to continue making the statement. I don't like the Clintons but it's a brilliant move.

8. Because he's a black man, who has come from a place of oppression and repression through the years in our own country.

I didn't know private schools in Hawaii and Ivy League colleges were places of oppression and repression.

9. I find it hilarious that anyone would believe in putting a black to run this country. Seriously???? Why is it that NO one has the guts to say they will NOT vote for him because he is black? If he were white, he'd be president by now. Republicans don't elect blacks into office, they give(affirmative action) them the jobs. Condi = given. Paige = given. Powell = given. Thomas = given. What happens when whites/republicans/libertarians have to vote for blacks? Ken Blackwell = lost vote. Michael Steele = lost vote. Even a highly regarded(funny to write)football player Lynn Swann = Lost vote. you all sit on here and say what you will and will not do based on political beliefs, but it boils down to who you like and who you resemble. Don't hate me because I speak the truth, hate me because i have the guts to say what YOU won't. True American!!!

10. Obviously, Kerry isn't a "Typical White Person" to be making such statements about Obama.

11. First, welcome back Shark from winter break. I think you should have as many threads on Obama, Rev. Wright, and Rep. Ferraro as you can fit at this site. In fact, I think you should start another blog to contain all the new threads. Something tells me that the republicans really don't want to run against Senator Obama and this is the eqivalent of crossing over to vote in the Texas primary. I think that what will happen at the dem convention will surprise people and 24/7 threads like this will only energize people, even those who don't particularly care for Senator Obama. So, I am looking forward to:

a. Global Warming MMMMMMMMMMM

b. Rev. Wright will give the invocation at the inauguration DCLXVI

c. If Obama were a white man MDCCCXCVI

12. Obviously Kerry is so isolated and sheltered he believes that EVERY black person suffers or has suffered oppression and repression. They oppress and repress blacks in Indonesia? They oppress blacks at the tony Punahou private school in Honolulu. (If anything, howlies are the ones that are oppressed)

I see nothing in Obama's bio that suggests he suffered any oppression or repression. He seems to have live a very comfortable upper middle class , if not wealthy life for the majority of his years. So, I don't see that him being able to empathize with any "person of color". Now, he could certainly empathize with people in Beverly Hills, the east side of Central Park, Martha's Vineyard, Jupiter Island, Greenwich, Conn. That's more his peer group.

13. @9 er...um...what about JC Watts? Gary Franks? 3 of the 6 elected black Senators have been Republicans.

14. The only value in Kerry's babel is as an index of liberal dimwittedness. Although most of them are probably too bright actually to believe this nonsense. Just dishonest.

17. Truth in words: You can certainly speak the truth about yourself, which is decidedly ugly, but you certainly don't speak for me.

18. Last year the speaker of the house visited the middle east and set the women's movement back decades in the countries she visited. In no way did her visits help the oppressed women. Why would the visit of a "black" president help the oppressed "black" people in their countries?

How does one explore issues like universal health care with a person that only is interested in acceptance of their race or gender by being the "first" _____________ President.

Leadership requires insensitivity to race and gender. Obama and Hillary by their own words and actions have not proved capable of that insensitivity. It appears that they weld race and gender as épées in their personal duals with each other.

Kerry, in this video, once again proves the wisdom of the American voters. His statements are clearly disingenuous.
