Re: I'd Like a Double Tall Grumpy with a Half Shot of Spite
More on the internal dust-up among state Senate Republicans, via the TNT (plus more from the AP):
Senate GOP leadership told Roach she can't have direct access to caucus staff because of her "inordinate" demands on staff time and her sorta insistence on loyalty oaths from staffers. It sounds as if the staff complained to leadership that Roach spends so much time complaining about other senators, former senators, Senate GOP leadership, lobbyists, Republican party leaders and others that they don't have much time to do anything else.
Hereafter, Roach will have to make her requests to caucus staff through her legislative aide and staff will give their help to the aide so Roach and the staff will never come into direct contact with each other.
"Staff are asked to spend an inordinate amount of time with Member (Sen. Roach) to detriment of their obligations to other members and to the personal lives of staff," Senate leadership wrote.
Yikes.
Other than Republican leadership insisting Strom Thurmond's staff keep an aide with him at all times after he briefly groped Patty Murray in a Senate elevator, I've never heard of a member of a legislative body in Olympia or DC being internally restricted like this.

1. In a word 'SICK' !!! :)
2. Normally nobody hears about this sort of stuff. It belongs is a work file, not the web.
But then, Senator Roach is hardly average.
Maybe if she hadn't given a few graphic quotes about her version of her Leader's backside antics we wouldn't know about all of this.
Remember, Senator Roach is someone known to be armed.
3. I began my comments in the prior thread with the phrase that even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I don't know the internal party politics of this one so I can't speak to that. The question still remains the same. Why is this a one-party state and why is the republican party so uncompetitive? Even an eccentic person can ask those questions and still have the questions be valid.
4. Well, she MAY be 'armed' but she's still apparently a few cartridges away from having a full cylinder. UNfrickinREAL!!! Someone you can really be proud of...and one wonders why the State of Washington LACKS. :)
5. Trust me. The part about Hewitt mooning the crowd is true.
6. WVH:
I have to agree with your comments that a "one party" state is not what democracy is about. Neither party, nor ideology, has a monopoly on wisdom in public policy. We all benefit from a robust discussion and critique of that policy.
What's happened in western Washington is an atrophy of the right. A mirror image of that has occurred east of the Cascades. Here on the "coast", we march to the tune of party hacks like Patty Murray and Ron Sims. Over in "God's country" they worship Dino and an abiding hatred of "Queen Christine".
All of this is severely detrimental to the common welfare. As long as we view the other half of the political spectrum as the enemy, rather than our fellow Americans, we all lose.
So far, we've lost a lot. At some point, there's nothing left to try and save.
7. Wow! Thurmond groped Patty Murray? He must have been really desperate.
8. Oh yeah, and as for Pistol Packin' Pam, she'll likely snap one of these days and decide she has had enough. She will pull out her gat and fire away. Being a poor marksman as most amateurs are in this realm, she will kill some poor, innocent shmuck who actually voted her into office and thinks gun control is a bad idea.
9. Regardless of the idiot trolls, the state GOP has arrived at a new nadir. But alas like the proverbial phoenix it shall rise from the ashes....
10. Pam's a target because she is outspoken and effective. Her "history of harassment" is really about standing up for accountability. When Senate Majority Leader Jim West (R) went after her years ago for disclosing emails among R staff, the press ignored the emails included sexual banter that hinted at his own secret. Check it out:http://www.spokesmanreview.com/jimwest/story.asp?ID=052405_west_email
11. From the "Vase of Roses" tirade to "Moon over Hawaii". Pam is one of a kind. Good heart, but something in the head area just comes loose once in a while. Add a dose of paranoia, a gun and there is potential for real trouble. No wonder this is a one Party state.
12. Bad assumption you make about "poor marksman". I believe she's a lifetime member of the bane of democrats, the NRA.
Most trophy winners at Marksman competitions are the "amateurs" you fear.
13. Had to smile about that one PC. Being a member of the NRA no more makes you a marksman than being a member of the ACLU makes you a lawyer. And unless you carry a gun for a living, you are an amateur.
14. Ugh.
Not the public image we need. It's gonna be bad enough.
15. What do you get when you add water to a republican?
16. Being a member of the NRA no more makes you a marksman than being a member of the ACLU makes you a lawyer.
No. But consistently winning the legislative shootout year after year - as Roach has done - makes you a better shot than most.
Thing is, Roach has some good, conservative ideas. But ask anybody who's had to work with or around her and they'll tell you, without pause, the woman is certifiably insane.
17. So witz, having a badge and carrying a gun makes you a pro? Gimme a break.
Liquor control board enforcement people carry a gun and they are collectively the worst shots I've ever seen, badge or no badge.
18. ask anybody who's had to work with or around her and they'll tell you, without pause, the woman is certifiably insane.
Yet she keeps getting re-elected. =)
19. Just wondered if they ever found her flowers?
20. Unkl Witz - you can laugh now, but one day the GOP shall rise again...
21. ...possibly, but
not in this State. :)
[since I can't post on the above 3 topics]
22. Another spew of posts from Sharkansky where he boldly turns off comments so not to see any dissenting opinions.
Way to go buddy. I used to respect your opinion man. I didn't always agree but I liked to read your thoughts and then soemtimes discuss them in the comments.
I see with your last Obama post about his speech that you listened and embraced Kirby, Rush, Levine, and Hannity's spin over the last few days.
23. Unkl Witz - you can laugh now, but one day the GOP shall rise again
And they shall fall again when they betray the will of the voters who put them there. American politics in a pendulum that goes from Left to Right and back again.

I dunno the last time this topic was discussed pbj got angry and started making subtly racists statements. The moderators then closed the thread and removed the offending comments.
25. ...good training in self-control for 'foamin-at-the-mouth' Repubs.....:) just kiddin AM/V
26. @24
I haven't been reading SP everday but every time I have Sharkansky's posts have had comments turned off.
Is there some compelling reason?
27. @ 25:
Like most conservatives, Stefan can dish it out, but he can't take it.
28. Is there some compelling reason?
Too busy working for the Ron Paul campaign I guess.
29. That's funny ivan. That is the way I've always viewed liberals, er progressives, ah whatever.
30. Reb:
It's no secret that the left has all the comedians and the right has all the blow-hard talk show hosts. It must just be way our brains are wired toward a liberal or conservative bent. We got the sense of humor, you got the neurosis.
31. Let's not forget that without neurosis - there would be much less humorous material out there.
Conservatives and Liberals need each other.
32. Is Sen. Roach still complaining about women's suit coats not having a breast pocket sewn in them?
33. So, as details come out Senator Roach flipped off her colleague, and he responded by turning and flipping the back of his coat jacket - no flesh exposed.
Thank goodness we elect thoughtful, mature, outstanding role models to higher office (well, at least the Republicans do).
But then, this is representative government...and we are talking Auburn...
34. BTW Unkl, I am a recent resident(2002) and have had nothing to do with putting the old-guard Republicans in office. In fact, the only time my vote EVER counted for anything was re-electing Dave Reichert, which I'm regretting now due to his left-wing turn. Basically I have no one in D.C. or the WA assembly that represents my views. Is that freedom Unkl? The freedom to be oppressed and take it up the shute?
