Protest at the Tacoma Mall Recruiting Center

Local left-wing groups announced that they were going to "shutdown" the Tacoma Mall and the military recruiting station there to protest the upcoming 5th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. Probably due to the Times Square recruiting station bombing, that kind of rhetoric gets taken more seriously by the police nowadays. You can see my coverage of this protest at this post on the My Own Side blog. At the bottom of the post is a link to the full gallery of pictures, as well as a link to a previous protest at the same place last November.

1. My experience is not a scientific study, but quite often in talking to those who have a "Hate America First" attitude, many of them have not traveled extensively internationally and have not talked to people in other countries who would take a US Passport in a heartbeat, even though our currency is in the toliet.

2. Hmm, so the old guitar strap I had in 1975 found a use as a head band. Recycling works. I could only hope it falls about 10 inches and cinches up REAL tight.

4. Went to the mall on Saturday. Couldn't figure out the one chant they were doing. "Drop it like its hot not bombs"?? Sounded like they were trying to give it a hip hop flavor for the youngsters. Bet the anarchists there were dissapointed they didn't get to smash anything. I guess they are doing it again on the 19th in Seattle, maybe the one protester who said she was a teacher is bringing her class for extra credit.

6. As always, so many of them wore masks! They don't even have the courage of their own convictions. Cowards.

8. It's not really about the war. It's merely an excuse to walk around angry about President Bush, who is what they hate---committed christian social conservative, while promoting their "workersworld" anti-capitalist, pro-communist view (oh please, groups like "answer" and the like DO have communist roots and sympathies). They are also bashing "the rich", for reasons not truly understood. While claiming to be against war, most of these people are probably for the slaughter of the unborn (usually comes with the territory, I've noticed).

9. ..and yes, katomar, I thought the same thing. Why the need to cover their face, if they are feeling so correct about their demonstration? You only cover up if you are ashamed of what you are doing or know that what you are doing is wrong. (as with the vandal thugs at WTO)

10. I wonder if he let the mop dry after it was used to mop the bathroom floor before he put it on his head?

12. Why are the protesters protesting out side a recruiting station? Don't they know that those guys in there can't do a damn thing about the war.
If they want to protest some where they should be protesting outside the offices of Sen Murry and Cantwell and Their House Reps. Those are the guys that can do something about it.

I mean come, it has been more than a year since the Dems took control of BOTH the House and Senate.

How many bill have been introduced to pull the troops out of Iraq? (iirc 17)

How many have gotten out of Congress and made it to the desk of the President to be signed? (ZERO)
Not that he would, he would veto them, but the point is that NOT ONE bill has gotten out of Congress for him to veto.

In fact how many times in the past year has the Dem controlled Congress stopped funding for the war?(ZERO)

These libs are just too STUPID to realize that the people they voted in to office in 2006 are the ones keeping the war going.

13. Chief,

Well moreover, we don't get what we want by whining and protesting. That might feel good to the protestors. But the more it happens, the more it becomes just background noise to the casual observer.

Those who are serious about change put on suits and meet with legislators in a rational, calm and sincere manner. Screaming in a bullhorn while dressed in a mop does nothing. And wearing pink and disrupting Congress also has no effect.

As usual, the left shows that they are not serious about change.

15. Putting a little itching powder will halp them numask in a real hurry. Only cowards hide behind masks.....but then again, most socialist/communists are cowards at heart. They like to hide between good is bad and bad is good. Typical af animal farm mentality.

17. Umm, just for the record, 60's Flower Child (my name for her) is a troop supporter who was mocking the protesters with her outfit and signs. She's the woman shown in another picture holding a sign saying "You don't 'support the troops' by sabotaging their mission, ya big dope!"

Most people would get this, but on the other hand I realize that sometimes the far left is just *so* far out there that they parody themselves without any help.

18. Cousin It - indeed. That placard speaks the truth. Out of the mouths of 'cousin its'. The photo captures it well.
