I'm asked by a lot by people I know when I'm going to run for serious office. There are a number of reasons why I'm not inclined to do so at this point, mostly related to wanting to spend enough quality time with my wife and kids (ages 11 and 8).
There is another reason of less serious consideration - since I doubt I'd end up in this predicament. The imagery of forlorn wives appearing next to soiled husbands prompted the lovely and witty Mrs. Earling to point out that in similar circumstances she wouldn't be standing by my side. Her reaction would instead be more likely to include a "bloodly meat cleaver" than a smiling presence at the press conference of shame.
She was kidding.
I think.
Nonetheless, your statements are duly noted, honey.
Duly noted.

2. Your respect and admiration for your wife.
Regardless of your politics or ideology, our country would be better served if more fathers/husbands recognized these fundamental values.
I simply cannot express my disdain and disappointment in the behavior of Mr. Spitzer. May he quickly fade from the public eye and quietly face the consequences of his actions. He deserves nothing more and nothing less.
Look up "Carlson" and "WEA" in the Carlson-Pridemore race for a specific example.

And yeah, Eric, don't run for office. Your too good to sully yourself as a politician.
Posted by: Jeff B. on March 11, 2008 11:38 PMDaniel, you should run for office, too. You study your topics very well and would be prepared for committee meetings (as compared to most electeds today). We need that.
But, the kid and family thing. That is a tough reason to overcome from my standpoint. So much time away from home is why this opinionated guy isn't in office.
The young Reardon seems to be doing it, Eric.
