One Reason I'm Hesitant to Run for Office

I'm asked by a lot by people I know when I'm going to run for serious office. There are a number of reasons why I'm not inclined to do so at this point, mostly related to wanting to spend enough quality time with my wife and kids (ages 11 and 8).

There is another reason of less serious consideration - since I doubt I'd end up in this predicament. The imagery of forlorn wives appearing next to soiled husbands prompted the lovely and witty Mrs. Earling to point out that in similar circumstances she wouldn't be standing by my side. Her reaction would instead be more likely to include a "bloodly meat cleaver" than a smiling presence at the press conference of shame.

She was kidding.

I think.

Nonetheless, your statements are duly noted, honey.

Duly noted.

1. I heard today that Colmes wife (of Hannity and Colmes) told him that if that happened to her, she would be holding her own press conference.

This is not going to play well with the Clinton run, it brings back too many memorys of what should have been Especially if Spritzers wife leaves him in the next few days, which I suspect.

2. Hats off to you Eric for recognizing and acknowledging two of the most important things in your life:

1. The quality of your relationship with your children, and

2. Your respect and admiration for your wife.

Regardless of your politics or ideology, our country would be better served if more fathers/husbands recognized these fundamental values.

I simply cannot express my disdain and disappointment in the behavior of Mr. Spitzer. May he quickly fade from the public eye and quietly face the consequences of his actions. He deserves nothing more and nothing less.

3. Don't forget that "mainstream" to "leftist" Republicans have an extremely small appeal to those who would actually vote... and their leftist allies will dump them in a second.

Look up "Carlson" and "WEA" in the Carlson-Pridemore race for a specific example.

4. It's amazing to me why the wives stand by their man as well. 'Cept for Hillary. Coat tail surfer.
Could Spitzer's wife be thinking "It's only a prostitute. It's not like it was a long running affair"?
Or is it "...getting scr#@ed for 5 grand is nothing compared to what's coming"
I know Mrs. PC would be thinking "quite the selection of bats acquired over the years. We'll start with this one..."

5. Run for office? You're kidding, right?

6. Yeah, I was just looking at some Google images of Silda Switzer. She's quite a beautiful woman. And he's got three daughters who deserve a much better role model for a father. Making Eliot Spitzer even more of an ass. How one could throw such a built life away on hookers, is beyond me. My life is entirely devoted to my wife and kids. It's amazing how much you get back in return when you simply treat your family with love and respect. It's pretty clear Spitzer never learned that lesson.

If it were my wife, I wouldn't expect her to stand by me either. Spitzer should go down in flames alone.

And yeah, Eric, don't run for office. Your too good to sully yourself as a politician.

7. If Eric doesn't, then who does? Geoff Simpson or Eric Oemig? Eric should be encouraged to run, Jeff.

Daniel, you should run for office, too. You study your topics very well and would be prepared for committee meetings (as compared to most electeds today). We need that.

But, the kid and family thing. That is a tough reason to overcome from my standpoint. So much time away from home is why this opinionated guy isn't in office.

The young Reardon seems to be doing it, Eric.

8. My wife clearly laid out family policy on such things to me many years back:

'I would not kill you -- but you would beg for death.'

9. Well, it appears Mrs. Scumbag...eh...Spitzer actually encouraged him to "tough it out" and not resign. So, she's as stupid as he is. She most likely was "in the know" about all this and didn't care. Will the mainstream media investigate what she may have going on the side? No. Politically incorrect. She's the "victim" in all this. That's the standard line.
Who among us has a wife that woud fail to notice $5000 missing from our bank accounts on a regular basis? She's a lawyer for crying out loud! She deserves scorn, not heart-felt sympathy.
