On the radio - link updated

I took a timeout from being a salary-slave to the man today to hop on KUOW's "The Conversation" with some fellow local bloggers. You can listen here. I came on second after the Stranger's Eli Sanders dissected yesterday's Democratic exit polls.

A few tidbits on the program:

1) Having done a few of these as a blogger and as a professional, I'm constantly reminded of how hasty these sort of appearances are...short of doing a full Meet the Press-style roundtable (which would have been fun with this slate of guests).

2) Sanders cast doubt on the notion of a Clinton-Obama ticket. He made some fair points to a degree, though there is history of candidates not liking each other much ending up thus paired (JFK & LBJ, Reagan & H.W. Bush). But, given the intractable morass whereby neither Clinton nor Obama can win without the Superdelegates, it is entirely plausible that a joint ticket would be one of the few ways to actually settle the nomination fight. At least without tearing the party to shreds through the National Convention.

3) I concur with David Postman's take in the last segment with the bloggers that McCain's candidacy helps Rossi on the margins. McCain at the topic of the ticket won't necessarily help fellow Republicans directly. Yet, if he can make the Evergreen State competitive then it notably increases the likelihood of the RNC dedicating serious resources to GOTV here - on top of the fact the state offers the likeliest GOP chance to pick up a Governor's seat nationwide. Those sort of resources can boost campaigns by at least a percentage point of two. We seem to have discovered margins like that can be important.

2. Michael Medved wrote a great piece on why there won't be a C-O or an O-C ticket. Read it here http://www.townhall.com/columnists/MichaelMedved/2008/02/13/dems_dream_ticket__why_it_wont_happen
