One of Obama's few legislative accomplishments is co-sponsoring the as yet unpassed "Patriot Employer Act":
we should encourage corporations to be patriot employers that create good jobs with good benefits for American workers," said Senator Obama. "Patriot employers help maintain American competitiveness in the global marketplace, while keeping our workforce and our middle class strong."Yes, but free enterprise does that better than any of the alternatives.
I wouldn't call this "plagiarism", but the idea of coercing private enterprise to serve political goals is hardly original:
In view of the fact that private organisation of production is a function of national concern, the organiser of the enterprise is responsible to the State for the direction given to production.Benito Mussolini Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at February 22, 2008 12:29 PM | Email ThisState intervention in economic production arises only when private initiative is lacking or insufficient, or when the political interests of the State are involved. This intervention may take the form of control, assistance or direct management.
