Time To Help The Danes Again

As you may have heard, they have been having a little trouble with "youths", whose motivations are obscure, at least to the BBC.  And with terrorist plots.   And with murder conspiracies.

How to help?  We can offer our support, of course.  And one of the most practical ways for most of us to do that is to make a point of buying Danish products.  And so, today, I bought a little Danish Havarti, the kind with the dill seeds.  It's a great tasting way to make a political protest.  (I think the dill version goes especially well with our Northwest salmon, by the way.)

Cross posted at Jim Miller on Politics.

(Full disclosure: My maternal grandmother was Danish, but I would take this stand even if I had no Danish ancestry.)

1. Maybe someone can repackage some Hillary and Obama "hope" and "change" rhetoric into Danish and empty-headed Danes will suddenly think their future is better too?

Won't really solve any of Denmark's real problems, but Democrats here are more than ready to elect one of these talkers because their talk makes them feel better, so if a good number of Danes are as dumb as Democrats here, maybe that's all it will take.

2. And the Democrats still have their head in the stand regarding the extreme radical Muslims.

How come this hasn't happened here where several bloggers joined in a salute of solidarity this past week by reprinting the cartoon?

3. I too have Danish grandparents. Both my fathers parents were from Denmark. I love that cheese. I bought some Legos for my grandchildren. They love them and so do their parents. I find myself playing with them too. I think I will o get some of that lovely cheese today. Thanks for the idea.

4. There is a store in Bellevue Square mall called Blue Willi's that sells apparel made in Denmark. While I have no need for a $100 pair of women's jeans, I plan to buy a pocketknife made by Danish knifemaker Mikkel Willumsen.

6. Sorry Jim, but this was covered in detail on Little Green Footballs.

Were a bit behind.

7. Hey, Jim, according to Garrison Keillor there is a letter in the Danish language that looks like an "o" with a "/" through it. He says it (the letter) means "Americans can't pronounce this". Any idea? ;-)

8. Thanks for posting -- this issue is getting too little coverage here in the States. I, too, was going out of my way to buy Danish products after the earlier boycott of the Danes (and the torching of their consulates, etc) by Muslim radicals in various countries who failed to see the irony in torching consultates as a way to answer a cartoon suggesting they are intolerant...

Pass the Havarti & Danish Blue too!

(and, even w. Norwegian heritage I'm willing to do this).
