Gregoire: Economy Gooooood

The Tim posts about Gregoire's feel-good claims about the economy, as reported in the P-I.

Actually, I don't have a big problem with her optimism. I am personally optimistic, and I think that economic pessimism often becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy (hence my anger at Democrats who have been practically begging for an economic downturn for years now). There are many actual problems (there always are), but if we keep a level head and we are individually responsible for ourselves, we'll get through it.

That said, I know that if a recession DOES hit us here in Washington, it will be all Bush's fault. Oh, and Rossi's too.

1.
Gregoire has failed to address the serious and pernicious problem of having the highest housing prices in the nation.

Every year more and more Puget Sounders fall into the role of being Virtual Slaves who cannot acquire capital because of Gregoire and her lack of expertise in managing the local economy.

Businesses will not move here and many will flee the inhospital conditions of the Puget Sound.

2. I agree, the economy's doing very well. It's only because there's a POTUS election this year is the media playing up the "downturn."

In an economic system such as our there will always be winners and losers.

What the surrendercrats want to do is punish the winners and reward the losers with the winner's money.

Socialism, pure and simple.

3. Leftists here beg for an economic downturn just like they beg for our forces to get slaughtered in Iraq: If there's a political advantage to be gained from it, then they don't give a damn how much blood is spilled to achieve it.

4. Gregoire: Economy Goooood.....yeh H yes it is great when you have a $180k state job and get a massive state pension, and get an 18% raise.

H yes it's a great Economy

So with the democrats newly proposed 115 Billion in new spending just in the early days of this so called short 60 day session, plus the 33% increase in state spending since she has been in office, plus the massive new taxes she will propose next year including a 7% income tax, yeh it's a wonderful economy.

For her!

5. I work for a manufacturing company, in Seattle. My company is VERY busy, and hiring like crazy. I do the Business Survey for the local chapter of the Purchasing Managers Association, and our Index is at 69.8 for January. Anything over 50 indicates an expanding economy. The average for Western Washington for the past year has been over 60, and 90-day forecast is also that optimistic. No recession coming that I can see.
