Gregoire Actually Gets Some Good News

Former Cantwell aide Michael Meehan joining the Christine Gregoire's re-election effort is a plus for that campaign - if it pans out as Postman's reporting implies.

For all that there was not to like from a partisan perspective, Cantwell's 2006 campaign was reasonably well managed, especially compared to Gregoire's 2004 run. Plus, any competent addition to the campaign team that weakens the influence of the establishment types who dominated her tepid 2004 performance is probably a net plus from an objective standpoint.

1. With someone who has as little charisma as Gregoire, and someone like Gregoire who has spent much of the last three years hiding in her office playing passive agressive, and someone like Gregoire who many WA residents still see as elected through King Couny's improper counting of provisional ballots....

It's going to take a lot more than Michael Meehan to help Gregoire. Maybe Superman is available?

2. When you were describing Gregoire, I thought you were quoting Cantwell's traits. Perhaps he is Superman.

3. Except there was no Stefan to uncover improperly counted provisionals in the Cantwell- Gorton race. And Gregoire never has created the momentum that Cantwell enjoys.

4. I heard today from a ranking republican in Olympia today, that she has taken the 2.2 Billion dollar state surplus, and turned it into a 600 million dollar defecit.

Rossi will make some hay with this one.

5. So, are we going to see a replay of buying of the competition like Cantwell in the last election? And whatever happened to the antiwar candidate that sold out, anyway?
