On a bit more serious note than the below post, but along the "we heart Obama" theme, do take the time to read Eli Sanders's coverage of Obama in Iowa that I linked to yesterday.

I've had the time to digest it in full and think it compares well to the truly excellent magazine features that helped put Michael Kelly on the journalistic map years ago. Sanders is no Kelly, but this is good. Capturing the mood on the ground. Revealing why skepticism in the midst of passion is prudent. And giving delightful insight into harrowing life on the campaign trail, which is largely a seat-of-the-pants ride for more participants than many realize.

Nice work, Eli.

1. Say what you will about Obama, Sanders, or the Stranger, but that was a damn fine article. It's also the first positive Obama article I've seen during this latest rush that avoids being doting or nebulously cautious. Good stuff and a fun read. Political gonzo journalism at its best.
