Another promising result in the early absentee returns: I-25 is also winning, 60%-40%. Just goes to show that the electorate isn't buying King County's claims to have fixed the problems from 2004.

honest question
Posted by: righton on November 6, 2007 10:40 PMThe other counties show between 19% and 62% turnout - King County is showing only 14%.
The night is yet young, now that KCRE once again knows what they need.
Posted by: SouthernRoots on November 6, 2007 10:47 PMNow lets get some dedicated right-of-ways built for BRT, some additional GP lane expansion and some HOT action goin on and we'll be good to go.
Tis a beautiful day in Pugetopolis...
Posted by: intelligent resident on November 6, 2007 10:51 PMRefuse to be solemn - TPTB lost bigtime on the continued transit boondoggle, tempered by Normal Person Judy Fenton getting drilled.
Glad I'm leaving Seattle, though. Keep hope alive.

Posted by: Saltherring on November 7, 2007 05:43 AMKing county is now reporting 99.0208% precincts and 25.203% turnout.
Several of the measures that are currently passing are failing in KC. By the way, KC says they have 0 ballots left to count.......
So far, Statewide, we are at only 28.43% turnout. If Sam Reed is correct (50% turnout), there is still 22% of the votes to be counted.
King, Pierce, and Snohomish are all reporting less than 26% turnout, must all be in the mail.
Overall, I'm pleased with the current results, but with the all mail balloting, it's too early to count the chickens.
YES! Stefan has been a tireless advocate for cleaning up the mess and instilling accountability to King County Elections! Thank you, Stefan! NO MORE '04!

Yesterday, at my spot, the AVU Judge surfed for most of her shift. AVU = Diebold. Surfing = using a personal computer in the polling place. The poll-place Inspector assured me it was utterly innocent, but it directly violated instructions plainly stated in the KC Elections Guidebook, a policy & procedures manual.
Innocent it probably was, but think about the appearance of impropriety, of using a computer next to a computer-driven machine infamous for the alleged manipulation of its software.
Just another typical day in a county where elections are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat party.
Posted by: bitch bitch bitch on November 7, 2007 08:57 AMAmending the charter is always a two-step process. First, an ordinance has to be passed that proposes the charter amendment, specifies when it goes on the ballot, other implementation details, etc. Once that ordinance passes, the charter amendment itself goes up for a vote. The ordinance can be passed either by the county council or by the people through an initiative; if the initiative method is used, you end up having two public votes.

Posted by: swatter on November 7, 2007 09:27 AMI'll quote you earlier: "If per chance it does pass (by some minor miracle)," (from a late October thread)
So, you admitting that it is a minor miracle that it passed?
If its a minor miracle that it passed, is it a major miracle that it passed with NEARLY 60% OF THE VOTE?

"(seems unlikely but knowing Ron Sims he'll find a way)"
That comment is disgraceful, and should be so to members of both major political parties. Perhaps that is why, even in Democrat-controlled King County, this measure was passed handily. So to you and the anarchists at HA.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Posted by: Saltherring on November 7, 2007 12:17 PMGuess I have to in order to be consistent with my opposition to this stupid amendment. Nothing will change. You have to live with the smoking ban, I have to live with I-25. From now on I will be sure to vote for every Ron Sims backed candidate for this office. =)
