Election sanity

Another promising result in the early absentee returns: I-25 is also winning, 60%-40%. Just goes to show that the electorate isn't buying King County's claims to have fixed the problems from 2004.

1. Huge night for Puget Sound conservatives. Some election integrity for King County, transportation fiscal sanity, slapdown of SPS racism and Venus V's racist statements, more accountability and sunlight for the Progressive dominated Legislature, retention of a supermajority for funding an under-performing educational system that is already overpriced, etc.

Good to know there's still some sanity in such a Blue state.

2. A great night for all off us at SP!

The Queen has been dethroned!

Let her be thrown to the pheasants for a thrashing!

3. Yes, much good news to be had! Most things have gone even better than I thought they would.

4. This bodes very well for Dino coming up ... I am actually quite amazed at how well the tallies look so far.

I think the Dems are going to have a big fat headache for the next year and half ...!

5. So what's Ron Sims' next move; no way he opposed the transit thing cuz he's fiscally smart...

honest question

6. According to the SoS site, all counties have reported 100% of precincts - except King County which has reported only 6%.

The other counties show between 19% and 62% turnout - King County is showing only 14%.

The night is yet young, now that KCRE once again knows what they need.

7. PHEW! I thought for a second that the light-rail whackos were actually going to take over the region...KUDOS to all that worked so hard to defeat this boondoggle!

Now lets get some dedicated right-of-ways built for BRT, some additional GP lane expansion and some HOT action goin on and we'll be good to go.

Tis a beautiful day in Pugetopolis...

You have GOT to be kidding me?!?

9. Who knew? Even Seattle is showing shades of sanity. Weep for 67 passing, but you get what you pay for.

Refuse to be solemn - TPTB lost bigtime on the continued transit boondoggle, tempered by Normal Person Judy Fenton getting drilled.

Glad I'm leaving Seattle, though. Keep hope alive.

10. Odd that I-25 isn't being covered by either newspaper website...

The only thing odd about Seattle's newspapers are the writers, editors and publishers......

12. Update:

King county is now reporting 99.0208% precincts and 25.203% turnout.

Several of the measures that are currently passing are failing in KC. By the way, KC says they have 0 ballots left to count.......

So far, Statewide, we are at only 28.43% turnout. If Sam Reed is correct (50% turnout), there is still 22% of the votes to be counted.

King, Pierce, and Snohomish are all reporting less than 26% turnout, must all be in the mail.

Overall, I'm pleased with the current results, but with the all mail balloting, it's too early to count the chickens.

We'll need you by March at the latest but would like to have you back in a couple of weeks.

21. Glad to hear that the incestuous machine running KC elections is sure, very sure, that they've suctioned and siphoned all bugs from the gears of all-mail (all-femail too, of course) voting. I mean, everybody knows they did a fine job of cleaning up the polls.

Yesterday, at my spot, the AVU Judge surfed for most of her shift. AVU = Diebold. Surfing = using a personal computer in the polling place. The poll-place Inspector assured me it was utterly innocent, but it directly violated instructions plainly stated in the KC Elections Guidebook, a policy & procedures manual.

Innocent it probably was, but think about the appearance of impropriety, of using a computer next to a computer-driven machine infamous for the alleged manipulation of its software.

Just another typical day in a county where elections are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat party.

22. Duffman @16 -- There will be a vote in November 2008 on the charter amendment that was proposed in I-25. You won't be voting on I-25 itself again, but on the charter amendment.

Amending the charter is always a two-step process. First, an ordinance has to be passed that proposes the charter amendment, specifies when it goes on the ballot, other implementation details, etc. Once that ordinance passes, the charter amendment itself goes up for a vote. The ordinance can be passed either by the county council or by the people through an initiative; if the initiative method is used, you end up having two public votes.

Posted by: Toby Nixon on November 7, 2007 09:13 AM
23. You are being nice, Toby. The klowncil had the option when the initiative was validated to speed up the process by getting the charter amendment vote for this past election.

And Bob Ferguson gummed up the works.

24. Informative and educational; thanks TN.

Posted by: Duffman on November 7, 2007 09:27 AM
25. Cliff, I voted it against it. Maybe the late King County results will topple your lead (seems unlikely but knowing Ron Sims he'll find a way). Either way nothing is going to change. Same old BS, now with spiffy cool voting privileges.

Posted by: Cato on November 7, 2007 10:27 AM
26. Cato -

I'll quote you earlier: "If per chance it does pass (by some minor miracle)," (from a late October thread)

So, you admitting that it is a minor miracle that it passed?

If its a minor miracle that it passed, is it a major miracle that it passed with NEARLY 60% OF THE VOTE?

27. Cato@25:

"(seems unlikely but knowing Ron Sims he'll find a way)"

That comment is disgraceful, and should be so to members of both major political parties. Perhaps that is why, even in Democrat-controlled King County, this measure was passed handily. So to you and the anarchists at HA.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Posted by: Saltherring on November 7, 2007 12:17 PM
28. So, you admitting that it is a minor miracle that it passed?

Guess I have to in order to be consistent with my opposition to this stupid amendment. Nothing will change. You have to live with the smoking ban, I have to live with I-25. From now on I will be sure to vote for every Ron Sims backed candidate for this office. =)
