Say What?

I have to confess I'm completely with Dan Savage on yesterday's editorial in the Seattle Times on the topic of...what I'm not quite sure.

Following a paragraph discussing the porn industry with this sentence is simply mind boggling:

"The Beaver got sweet revenge for all those poundings."

How is my inner pervert not supposed to burst out laughing at that? How am I supposed to take this editorial even remotely seriously? Why is "the Beaver" not even being used properly given the editorial's discussion?

Wow. Just, wow.

1. I'm with you and Dan Savage. What the heck was that all about? An incredibly sloppy, disjointed piece. Nice editing, too. Ward Cleaver "new" Eddie's type?

2. Gotta admit, that's a strange one. How it made it past the editors is beyond me, especially the "Ward Cleaver new (sic) the type and was never fooled for a moment."

Maybe it was take you child to work day, and the editor's six year old wrote that editorial.
