Something to think about

Ralph Nichols in this week's Highline Times and Des Moines News

AN INTRIGUING phenomenon is the lip service many liberals give to the concept of democracy, for many of them fear and mistrust the people when we vote.

Evidence of this is official reaction to Initiative 25, which would mandate the election of the King County Elections Director. Currently that position is filled by the county executive.

But some on the Democrat-controlled county council are dragging their feet to delay as long as possible the people's will on that issue should voters approve it.

Councilmember Julia Patterson should take heed. Not only because the papers cover her district, but because she received the lowest number of votes of any Councilmember last election. I-25 might well be more popular in Patterson's district than Patterson is. Being on the same side of this issue as her voters is smart politics.

1. I certainly fear and mistrust the people.

Unfortunately, until the development of superintelligent chimpanzees who will rule over us as philosopher-kings, government officials are also people, and not the best and brightest of them. So whaddaya gonna do?

2. Good piece. Surprising that that sort of thing would appear in any paper.
So, the libs cry "we want everyone to vote!". Well, that's just fine. But they forgot to tell us they don't want everyone to vote on THIS! Get over it, democrats. We see right through ya!

3. Good. Now yer almost a 2-trick pony. Keep trying!

Saw a help wanted ad in a major Florida paper today: Voter Registrar Assistant Goon. Must be able to disenfranchise a few hundred thousand folks. Experience desired but not a sine qua non.

Posted by: Two-trick pony on July 20, 2007 07:26 PM
4. 2-trick: forward it on to Dean Logan.

PS Sorry about 2000. Can you move on?

5. Two-trick: How many counts did Algore win? Oh that's right. None.
Dino won two. And then it came out how many votes were illegal in the race. Far more than Gregoire's "tie" at the end.

6. Yeah, that's right, anyone who wants to keep this professional, nonpartisan position separate from the elections process must be an enemy of democracy. There can't possibly be another reason for this position, right? Just like anyone who doesn't think we've gotten enough benefit out of the Iraq war to justify 3600 American lives and $1 trillion must not support our troops or love our country.

I enjoy the way that you pretend you don't understand the difference between merely voting against initiative 25, and using dirty trick at City hall to keep it off the ballot. As for your second point,....Well, it's so far off point that I assume it's satire.

8. The D's are afraid that the people will vote against their precious homosexual perverts.

That's what they fear the most.

Voterphobia.

9. A professional, non-partisan position seperate from the election process?

Sounds like the Politburo in the good old USSR; they sure loved democracy...

Yea, Dean Logan: professional (shoe salesman) and non-partisan. Laughably idiotic statement, #6. Yea sure, a partisan appointing a non-partisan? Are you serious?

Good enough for all the other counties is good enough for (M L) King County.

And, just love the tie in of I25 to the war in Iraq. What's next, is I25 Bush's fault? Of course it is.

Actually, it would be nice if Cheney today sent a cruise missile into the K C Admin Bldg.
The rest of the state would love it....

Living the lie, loving the lie.........

10. But you, of course, could.... right Comrade Ivan?

11. She was the only one with a remotely serious opponent and still got nearly 70% of the vote. That's not really something to worry about. I think we call that a landslide.

12. Julia may beat herself, another Transfat Ban issue and she could be toast...with margerine!

13. Did anyone catch Kieth Ervin's article in the TIMES on the Voter Fraud in Pierce County? 400 fake registrations from paid canvassers employed by, that right...ACORN. Hmmm I am sure it's just a silly coincidence. The DNC must be proud.

14. It's always the same with the left. They believe they have been annointed with the supreme knowledge to decide what's best for the "little people". Do they want free elections? Of course not. Their heroes are Che, and Castro. Communists don't believe in the will of the people.

Posted by: Bill Cruchon on July 21, 2007 09:51 AM
15. Moondoggie@7- What dirty trick? The county charter is hard to amend -- as is the US Constitution -- in order to enforce stability, a "conservative" principle if there ever was one. The county council could help I-25 supporters get around that by passing a law that the council disagrees with. If it declines to pass such a law, how is that a "dirty trick"?

Posted by: Bruce on July 21, 2007 12:21 PM
16. The Democrats are NOT for democracy! Read (you can find it on line) from the 1958 book the Naked Communist, by Cleon Skoussen; a former FBI agent. You will be able to recognize the polital party that has been working very hard to accomplish all of these items.....call it "their agenda". By the way, according to Mr. Skoussen, Socialism leads to Communism. Surprise! Guess where we are headed unless we wake up! Please, everyone....at least check on this.

17. Question to Ivan and the rest of you flaming liberals. If Mr. Clausson was a "certified wack job", why is it, the list I have (from his book on communism, numbers one through twenty seven, follow the Democrats agenda to a T? One could be led to believe you protest too much!

Posted by: Sassy on July 21, 2007 01:04 PM
18. Ivan....my arn't we getting petty. I misprinted one letter. Seem pretty worried that someone else might just figure out the liberals' big secret?

Posted by: Sassy on July 21, 2007 01:18 PM
19. Hell, Ivan -- you can't even spell "here."

Now go kill a baby and cheer yourself up.

Posted by: Rey Smith on July 21, 2007 01:20 PM
20. Ivan,

ACORN is a Democrat organization. ACORN is caught red-handed again in Washington State faking registrations (1,800 from King County and 400 from Pierce County) 2,200 to date that we know of. I don't know what particular flavor of kool-aid that you are drinking, but for the objective observer, voter fraud in this state rests firmly in the Democrats camp. And if the Democrat Prosecutor in Pierce County can't get the job done, the VOTERS of Pierce County can and should vote to remove him and their elected auditor as well.

Posted by: Smokie on July 21, 2007 01:46 PM
21. Sorry, Ivan, you're just not important enough or even impressive enough to make anyone's day a living hell. But, at least you are upfront about what the liberal agenda is: make everyone's day a living hell.

22. Hey Ivan, Try to Google the Words ACORN and Democratic Party. ACORN Plan 80? Democrats officially recognize a ACORN committee at their National convention made up of over 40 delegates to the convention? Who is George Soros and why is he and group of Democratic Billionaires funding ACORN? Who is the liar now Heir Weiss?

PS ther seems to be a pattern of fake voter registrations with ACORN from Florida to Vermont to Ohio to Missouri to Washington and on and on.
I'm sorry ou apparently haven't got the honesty to admit it when your party is in bed with a criminal organization.

Posted by: Smokie on July 22, 2007 08:23 AM
23. Ivan,

Maybe when you are done laughing you can have someone who knows how to read explain ACORN's connection to the Democrat Party to you. Or you can take note of ACORN sponsoring the Democrat Presidential debate in Philidelphia on July 2nd of this year. You could also remind youself that ACORN employees attemped to unionize in California and ACORN fought it. There's a good Democrat for you do as I say, not as I do. Still laughing? Come on Chuckles, when you laugh, the entire blog laughs at you.

Posted by: Smokie on July 22, 2007 09:07 AM
24. Any "small" RICO convictions will do fine by me chuckles. Why would anyone be disenfrancised in Washington State? Your party has been in charge here for over 2 decades. Are you trying to say that Washington is not left enough? Wouldn't want to entertain any contrary opinions here in Washington, the party simply will not stand for it. Hey I noticed you glossed right over ACORN fighting unionization, whats the matter, no living wages for hard working party loyalists?
