Today's Seattle Times: "Initiative group says it has signatures, needs cash to retrieve them"
Initiative 25 organizer and spokesman Toby Nixon said the campaign has 58,000 signatures in hand but is $20,000 short of being able to pay Citizen Solutions for 20,000 more signatures the Federal Way company has collected.Yes, yes, I wrote Friday that the campaign needs only $7,000. The campaign budgeted to raise a portion of its goal from online donations (blog and email appeals) and a portion from major donors (= personal phone calls asking for big checks). The online donations are now within $7,000 of that target, and they're aiming for another $13,000 from major donors.
And if we online supporters make our number before the bigwigs, I have no doubt it will inspire some major donors to step up with the rest.
Please donate today and let's all get this done!

That means that my signature has commercial value - I think I want to charge the gatherer for my signature too - seems reasonable to get a piece of the action since we're no longer exercising a democratic act, but instead engaged in an economic transaction.
