Follow Up On John Cramer's Experiment

As you may recall, two months ago UW physicist John Cramer was looking for contributions so that he could try to make light particles go backward in time.

Today, we learn from Tom Paulson's PI article that Cramer has received enough donations to go forward with his experiments — though he could still use more money.

(Kudos to Paulson (and Sytman and Boze) for publicizing this effort.  I would add a suggestion for further reading on this subject, suitable for those who have not studied quantum mechanics, except that I don't know of any.  The subject is difficult, and there is no getting around that.

Incidentally, as the article mentions, Cramer is also a science fiction author.  I thought his book, Einstein's Bridge, was pretty good; among other things, it provided the most agreeable explanation for the 1992 Bush defeat that I have seen.)

2. Thanks for the post.

You may have been serious and you may have been joking, but you mentioned "science fiction author" and then immediately in the same paragraph talk about a theory for the Bush 1992 defeat.

P.S. I probably won't read the book, but might if I see it in my book store.

3. I was serious. And if you want me to explain, without spoiling the plot for those who might read the book, send me an email.

4. All very interesting, but does he have a flux capacitor?

5. Awesome. I am glad he got his money. These sorts of experments are, well, rather trippy. Important for science sure, but also trippy.
