The Story That Won't Die

The ongoing rift between the Snohomish County Council and County Executive Aaron Reardon continued unabated this past week. The Everett Herald covered increasing, rather than dwindling, tensions between the two branches. Now Reardon has released a public statement on the issue:

Over the past several days, the Everett Herald has reported assertions that the County has committed resources to what they characterize as a "party" to celebrate the rollout of the first 787 Dreamliner. While the rollout of the 787 Dreamliner is clearly cause for celebration, the County has made no commitment of funds to support such an event, nor has any funding been requested from the County or my office. We have been, and continue to be a partner with the Economic Development Council, the Boeing Company, local governments and agencies to explore opportunities to capture the greatest benefit from the Dreamliner rollout for the people of Snohomish County .

In theory that sort of statement should calm things down a bit, but based on the tone of public officials displayed in media coverage thus far I doubt that will happen.

UPDATE: typo mentioned in the comments fixed...begrudgingly.

1. The ongoing riff

Are they all jazzed up, or did you mean to say rift?

2. Oh, I don't know. I suppose they could all form a band as a way to patch things up so the "riff" would work. That would be quite a sight. Gossett on drums, Reardon on bass, Somers on lead guitar, Sievers on lead vocal, and Nelson & Koster on back-up vocals. I'd pay to see that.

But, alright, I guess I'll fix it.
