1. A whale baby killer? And all this time I thought it was just liberals that wanted to kill babies.

2. That's an incredible story & a beautiful picture. Killer Whales are awesome. One of the reasons why I travelled down to Miami a few years ago was to see the Killer Whale at Miami Seaquarium. The only other time I have seen this fabulous creature was several decades ago when I visited Sea World.

And you people can see these beautiful animals in the wild ... Seattle is blessed.

But, in Florida's defense ... I saw six alligators in local parks a week ago, and over the last month I have seen Manatees twice in Safety Harbor, and over the last year I have seen dolphins at least a half-dozen times. Life is plentiful & diverse in the Sunshine State, too bad that humans have covered almost every flat surface with asphalt ...

3. Nice Stefan.

As a diver. I've seen a few, but NOT to close.

4. "I'm delighted that they'll go where food is available," said Ken Balcomb, senior scientist with the Center for Whale Research. "They're not going to sit here and starve and wash up on our shores."

Sounds like these whales are a little smarter than some of the other whales who are too lazy to hunt for food and end up dead on the beaches.

And they have a ready food in the sea lions?

7. Talking about killer whales, does anyone remember the release of the freshly cleaned up seal, that cost something like $50,000, after the exxon valdez incident. The seal swam out into the ocean, rolled onto it's back, did a flipper wave and then was gobbled up by a killer whale. Talk about an expensive meal.

8. It's a great day at Sound Politics!
David Mathews wrote an elevan line comment, and didn't change the subject and go negative until the last line.

We are making progress here, people!

9. Moon, yeah our buddy matthews did keep it short and sweet but the blast to mankind for property development does smack of his ilk.
Hey matthews, we were paving long before you were posting "dread mankind" notes.
