"GOP chairman Esser must think suburban"

No kidding. Of course today's Seattle Times editorial is hardly groundbreaking stuff. Matt and I delved into related issues here and here respectively.

Speaking of which, today's announcement from Republican transportation leaders in Olympia is a good start. It's realistic and solutions-oriented, with a heavy dose of accountability.

The next step is to add some more meat to the education section under the "Empowering people" portion of this agenda.

2. I think Jarret and Esser have the right idea. It's about time for the GOP to start fishing in the troubled waters of transportation issues in our state.

We need more responive, representative, and accountable government--and we're not going to get that with the Dems.

Another good editorial to read is this one in the PI: Alaskan Way Viaduct: Absurd Skirmishes. My favorite quote: ...[W]ho can tell whether Gov. Chris Gregoire is coming or going?

It's about time for some criticism of this circus parading around as responsible government

3. Not sure I agree with everything, but its not a bad package. Glad republicans are ready to be constructive forces in the debate.

4. Where is the global warming issue? The liberals have hijacked that issue and right now it makes no sense at all, just read David Matthews. But, it also makes no sense to fight the mass hysteria Al Gore has been allowed to foment.

5. dcat!

New Zealand? Oh come on, the scenery is lovely but it is a socialist backwater when it comes to politica l sensibilities.

6. The R's need to do more of this. I see the Dems' repsonse to moving transportation projects ahead is ........... MORE TAXES! Sen. Katsama has introduced a bill that would increase the gas tax another 5.5 cents so we can complete the projects they told us were going to be completed with the last gas tax. I wonder if these folks really know how silly this sounds?

7. This sounds like a pretty good plan. Now all the R's need to do is publicize it as much as possible as soon as possible. If the MSM will not make noise with this plan, which I doubt they will, then Esser needs to go on the air and get the word out through talk radio and if needs be paid commercials on tv. If this plan gets the light shined on it that it needs it could actually wake some people up in this state to the reality that there is something better than the status quo we have now.

8. And make sure it is a senior citizen or union worker that is giving the message.
