Discontent with Diane Tebelius has reached the critical point

When it was first reported that Luke Esser would challenge Diane Tebelius for state GOP chairman, I decided to remain neutral. I've had only pleasant interactions with both. But many Republican insiders have since contacted me with serious concerns about Tebelius's leadership, using phrases like "She has a complete lack of understanding how to do her job" and "her re-election would be a disaster". The consistency, intensity and gravity of the allegations about her performance are astonishing. So is the absence of elected Republicans and well-known insiders rising to her defense.

I'll post dedicated entries on specific incidents related by first-hand sources. I regret there's no input from Tebelius. She never responded to Eric's earlier questions. She invited Matt, Eric and me to a meeting this week, but cancelled. Although her office frequently solicits our coverage, she's given no response to yesterday's questions.

1. The reason why I personally believe that Tebelius has got to go is that she was a large part of the terribly bad Republican case in the Election trial. Almost none of the real evidence was brought to light, and all we got were excuses. Then she wanted to be paid for her time that yielded little result.

When you then layer on the many bad decisions made since, she does not pass muster.

Conservatives, libertarians, and anyone that even remotely cares about their freedom needs much better leadership than Tebelius in fighting WA and National Secular Progressives who are doing everything they can to take is away from us.

2. Plus, Tebelius is a drunk. She was an embarrassment at the Fairway Fundraiser for the House Republican Campaign Committee, could barely talk and kept driveling on about totally irrelevant topics.

Anyhow, my two cents. Just want to make it clear she is an embarrassment to be leading our party in any capacity. If she wins, lets make sure she keeps away from the booze and cameras.

3. Don't just post a comment here. Call your state committee members and urge them to vote for Esser.

As usual griping is fun, but actions help win!

look up your state committee members at www.wsrp.org

I've called over a dozen myself -- please for the good of our party, take personal responsibility and make the calls!

4. A user going by "Please don't think this is Moderate vs. Conservative" completely nailed her on the post from yesterday. He said, "This election is about Tebelius' dishonesty, mistreatment of others and her abusive pursuit of her own self interests."

Agreed, "Make the call". We all need to go to www.wsrp.org and get the phone numbers of the state committee members. That is the Chairman, State Committeeman and State Committeewoman from each county.

Call them and urge them to vote for Luke Esser.

5. Stefan,

Come on you were never neutral in this race.
I have not seen one positive story about Diane
Tebelius sense this whole thing started. So
don't insult the inteligence of your readers
by trying to say your neutral.

For the record I don't support Diane's reelection.
However for you guys that keep dumping on
her. Why don't you tell us why we should support
Luke Esser instead of giving us reasons why
we shouldn't vote for Diane.

By the way Don Johnson I'm still waiting for you to tell me how
you know that Dino Rossi can't stand Diane?

6. Phil

I have no dog in this fight....But Diane has had numerous opportunities to answer the question posed, including keeping the meeting scheduled.

That speaks volumes for this REPUBLICAN....

You can excuse this until hell freezes over, but Luke Esser answered the questions, Diane didn't. That silence is the answer.....

7. Phil,

Just because you have not heard that Dino can't stand Diane does not mean that it isn't true. It's pretty common knowledge and the fact that you have not heard it probably gives it more credibility! If Diane wins, I am afraid that Dino might reconsider running in 2008.

But hey...then Mark Hulst could run for Governor!

8. Phil,

See #7. All true.

As for why there haven't been any postive stories about Diane Tebelius? That's because there AREN'T any.

Oh wait. She went on vacation out of the country during the election contest trial. That was positive.

And Stefan mentioned something VERY significant in another post earlier today. Why is it that NOT ONE prominent Republican in this state is outwardly supporting Diane, THE STATE PARTY CHAIR? No one? Not Dino Rossi, Rob McKenna, Dave Reichert, Doc Hastings, Cathy McMorris, anyone from the state senate or house? If she's doing such a great job, why in God's name isn't someone supporting her?

9. Ok guys that's fine you don't to want answer the
question then so be it.I do think however that's
a pretty irresponsible statement to make. What kind
of a man would base his entire reason for running
on who the state chair ends up being? If what you
say is true that would make Dino Rossi a pretty
selfish person.

Once again I am not supporting Diane. All you guys
do is dump on her and say why we shouldn't support
her. Yet you still wont say why we should support
Luke Esser.

10. I have a perfect reason to vote for Luke Esser, Phil: he knows how to fundraise. Massive GOTV efforts and a great database require money, and Esser was able to raise more than $400,000 for his campaign in 2006. I can guarantee you he'll do a great job of bringing in the bucks that it takes to win.

11. Phil-

Ed nailed it. Luke knows how to raise money. His PDC reports speak for themselves. Luke is an accomplished State Senator and a passionate supporter of our Republican principles. He know state politics better than most which makes him the best person for the job when it comes to heading our STATE political organization.

Come on Phil, why do you ALWAYS have to whine and complain. Nobody (who actually has a chance) is EVER good enough for you!

12. Scott Olson,

Just exactly who is it that has been "good enough"
other than Rob McKenna that's won in the recent
past? I see so Luke is a passionate supporter of
property rights? Don 't lay the crap on me about
how his district was against it. So because of
that Luke couldn't support it. That maybe what
he says but the polling that the I-933
committee did shows it was the exact opposite.

It was principled to have someone calling
up state committee members and telling them
that Dino Rossi won't run unless Luke is
elected state chair? I have a very difficult
time believing that Rossi or any of the others
are so scared of Diane that there afraid
to publicly back Luke.
