Worth Reading

Eugene Volokh describes the obstacles Washington state puts in the way of romance — if one of the people happens to be a medical professional.

It is easy enough to understand the motivations behind these regulations; the state doesn't want medical professionals abusing their patients.  (Neither do I.)  But these regulations go far beyond what is actually required to protect patients.

How about that olympia crowd meddles in their own affairs. Oops, there's a sticky situation with a couple current members eh? Oh but let's not confuse their personal live with how brilliantly they legislate.
