Life imitates David Ammons

David Ammons, yesterday:

Call it the Children's Hour.

Washington's Democratic-controlled Legislature is back at the Capitol for a 15-week session - and kids are king.

AP headline, today: "Teenage mayor takes over in Eastern Oregon town of Union"

1. Is this today's sign that the end is near? ("...and a little child shall lead them." Isaiah 11:6)

2. Micajah, I wouldn't call him a child. He's 18, and can volunteer to join the US Army, Navy, Marine Corp, or Coast Guard. Before he's 19 he could be fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan.

He's not a child, he's a man.

I wish him well.

From my reading of SP, I believe that Stefan has a good sense of humor. So the fact that this man is now mayor of his home town at the tender age (I say that as the father of a 26 year old son) of 18, coupled with the comments from the Socialists in Olympia and DC about "this is about the children," just cries out for comment.

We (America, our society) could do better than the "mature," "older," "more experienced," "incumbent," politicians.

If Hizzonor is all about liberal platitudes, then we need to speak our peace.

Until then, let's give him a chance.

3. Yeah, he can fight and die for his country. But the nanny state will be damned if he can have a drink!

4. Rest assured, not one cent will reach the children.
