Timothy Burgess to run for Seattle City Council
Timothy Burgess has announced his campaign for Seattle City Council this fall.
Burgess has been a Seattle police detective, chair of the Seattle Ethics & Elections Commission, chair of the Queen Anne Community Council and most recently a direct marketing entrepreneur. He also occasionally writes op-eds for the Seattle Times.
Running the campaign will be Democrat powerhouse Christian Sinderman.
Burgess' campaign website is here.
No indication yet who Burgess intends to challenge. He has previously donated to Jean Godden, David Della and Tom Rasmussen. Sinderman has worked for Rasmussen and Sally Clark. That seems to leave Peter Steinbrueck.

1. At least the Seattle Ethics & Elections Commission is a watchdog agency with some teeth. They recently fined Dwight Pelz $2,000.00 or so for campaign finance violations in his race for Seattle City Council. These violations were far less serious than the campaign finance violations that I filed against Pelz with the state Public Disclosure Commission related to his campaign for King County Council. I had noticed the violations in Pelz's Seattle City Council campaign, but decided not to file a PDC complaint about those, since the violations in the King County Council race seemed far more serious. But the Seattle Ethics & Elections Commission will enforce just about every single violation -- even filing a report "just a few" days late -- when the race is for a City of Seattle position.
