Say WA?

The Herald: "Everett to spend $250,000 on image" City officials say the money will pay for a whole new identity, not just a slogan.

1.
A free slogan for them - "Even our exit is on the Left!".

2. Power of the press. The councilman they quoted, Mark Olson, thinks so much of being a councilman/Everettite, he is running for County Council and hoping to leave his job. Great endorsement, eh?

I want to get a piece of that 250k.

The Queen married into an Everett family. It must be the water that causes these folks to be brain-dead.

And these knuckleheads spent money on the last logos, too. No wonder Stonecipher and company are considered "lesser".

And most important, this campaign should be direct reflection on the expensive marketing/public relation people they have on-board at the City.

Seems like a complete waste of time and money.

3. Truth_Teller,

That exit has been moved to the right.

4. G Jiggy - I guess that exposes how often I drive north on I-5! When did it move?

5. How about changing its logo like MLK County? Call it "Emmett." New logo is Emmett Kelley, the clown. Love to HIS visage on a flag & letterhead.

Just as meaningful/effective as King County's change. Too much time on legislators' hands.

6. Hey, it's only your hard earned tax dollars...be happy it's not alot more.

7. How about

"Not as ugly as Tacoma?"

"On the way to Boomtown" (that's the Indian place you buy fireworks, but gives them nice allusion to going places)

"town of free tours"

8. I called my buddy who lives in the City. He just shook his head. He says Everett is all-built out except for these couple projects in the works.

So, what exactly does a economic development group do anyways? That is a 1/2 million budget spent on what? Say WaTF? There is some screws missing here and it ain't my buddy.

9. Frankly, if their motto was "Home of the Silvertips" it would work for me. I'm a Portland WinterHawks season ticket holder and went up there in October to enjoy a game there.
I was surprised to see one of the most spirited hockey communities south of Canuckistan (PC Police: I can say Canuckistan, being from NB), and a great family environment.
Yeah, I was in a Hawks jersey talking a little smack to Lincoln but a great time was had by all; and a good number of fans thanked me for coming up and offered adult beverage at the Flying Pig (where I had dinner), but i needed to get back home.

Another motto could be: "Cleaner than the other Everett" (Mass...)

Merry Christmas to all,

Mike in Americas Vancouver

10. I am not giving any of you guys any of the 250k. Those mottos may be even worse than some of the mottos that city has had.

11. For $250,000 I bet something like "SayEv" would work.

12. How about:

"Everett: Oakland wrapped in green."?

13. When are people going to get it? You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and you can't make a destination out of a dirty little old mill town. The proof of this is when Ever-rot tore down the London Cafe building and the Scottish Rite temple to build the new Event Center...and the town is still a hole!!

"We got nothin' but the dead and dyin' back in my little town..."

14. Jiggy, the left hand exit is going back in as a ....drumroll, please......HOV-Bus exit.

Now if the firm retained is going to do a total Everett makeover, I wonder if they are going to enter the bulldozer rental business.

Ok, ok. Why is spending public money to come up with a new slogan any nexus to economic development?

Are all developers wimmin' who want to "feel" good about their decisions? No, sayeth the Geez, who believes they use the same pencils and arithmetic principles to come to prudent investment decisions.

15. Geezer, maybe it is the failure of the economic development people to show progress? That is a big budget.

It seems with all those big projects that if Everett can't make it with those, then a name or motto change isn't going to do anything. I think it more a 'feel good' thing by the power elite in that city.
