Your tax dollars at work (II)

KIRO-TV: "Money For Low-Income Housing Spent On New Hummer"

Let's start with Vancouver Housing Authority Executive Director Kurt Creager. Many of his section-8 clients don't have enough money for any car, but Creager just expensed a $37,000 H-3.
This seems to be par for the course at the VHA.

1. Um...are these section-8 recipients forgetting that they are getting FREE MONEY for not doing a damn thing?

Yes, the Hummer was a bad call, but Jeez, people...look up gratitude in the dictionary.

I had to deliver welfare checks into "the projects" in Tacoma for a summer. Many of the people there were driving nice new Toyota Four-runners. It really galled me to have to listen to some worthless piece of crap yell at me because his woman's food stamps were late.

I think that started the death of my youthful liberalism.

2. Creager needs to be dragged behind it until his common sense retruns. He needs to go. now.

3. mumblix--i dealt with immigrants and finances recently. while needing interpreters and not speaking a lick of English (so i was told), they were amazingly dialed-in & expert on all the freebies here--Sec. 8, food stamps & every other kind of asistance to be had.

"what a county" as the comedian once said. and much of the world and most of the left here still hate us. try getting that elsehwere. go figure. deservign or not, money for nothing still gripes me. let chruches & private charities do this, not Uncle Sam.

4. Hey, where can I get one of these jobs.

My Toyota is 11 years old. A new H-3 would sure look nice in my driveway.

Throw the bumb out!

5. My favorite line from this story is what Creagor had to say about what SOntag had to say.

"We're in positive cash flow. I'd say we're healthier than General Motors and Ford Motors combined. Frankly, the issue has to do with accounting rules."

Liberal mentality at its finest.

6. No kidding TrueSoldier! He also forgot the other little difference, GM & Ford (aren't they about to declare bankruptcy?) need to earn their money, not confiscate it when more is needed (aka taxes)

7. Here are Creagor's Conclusions in addressing a Senate Committee:
"The HUD budget must be increased in direct proportion to the need that exists in local communities. I appreciate and respect the fact that tough decisions needed to be made for the FY 2002 budget. I also appreciate the circumstances surrounding September 11 and how it has affected the priorities in Washington. However, as we approach the FY 2003 budget, we must be mindful of the fact that we are making great advances in the health of cities and improved housing quality. Yet, we have far to go in the area of affordability, which is why we need a commitment to these programs. The need for affordable housing grows every day. It is our hope that the FY 2003 budget will be an improvement on the FY 2002 and provide some response to the needs of our communities.

Yet as the nation is now three-quarters into a recession, it is important that the most vulnerable citizens - the homeless, disabled and seniors - are not forced to bear the burden of the need to pay for homeland security or nation-building abroad. Instead, this is a time to redouble our efforts to help people move from welfare to work and to ensure that our cities, our counties and our states are part of a concerted effort to stimulate the national economy. We have a huge investment in affordable housing and safe, viable communities across the country. We need not sacrifice their future in the FY 2003 budget debate. It is our hope that the FY 2003 budget will be an improvement on the FY 2002 and provide some response to the needs of our communities."

8. From the artlcle:

I'd say we're healthier than General Motors and Ford Motors combined.

Isn't that a lot like saying "I'm healthier than Ariel Sharon"?

9. "Liberal mentality at its finest."

I for one am getting pretty tired of all of the liberals driving around in their Hummers.

10. Come on guys and gals. You miss the point this was an entitlement program. And he was entitled to the Hummer. The program is not to help the poor but to help give jobs and entitlements to the workers. Nothing wrong with this. They are not trying to solve the problem. They just want to benifit and get their fair cut. The liberal way to solve issues. Prime Example.

12. more liberal bureaucrats leading by example. he does not use public transportation that his peers puch on all of us?

limos & private jets like our newly-elected top leaders. "it's for the children" they shout from inside their gated mansions and Kennedy-esque "compounds"

and WE need to "pay our fair share" in taxes??!!
