McGavick Call
10:00 pm UPDATE: here's the coverage: AP and CNN calling the race, as covered by the Seattle Times.
McGavick is in for a long night. Early returns in Clark and Spokane county are untenable for a Republican nominee. The question will be if the netroots can show any class in talking about this race's outcome. Maria Cantwell was never one of their favorite people, but they seemed to have a special loathing for McGavick. He deserves credit for running a classy campaign when it would have been easy, and perhaps wiser, not to.
UPDATE: Results in Snohomish County are brutal as well, 60% - 36% for Cantwell. Even with substantial tightening this is a far cry from the narrow victories in Snohomish County that Cantwell achieved in 2000, or Rossi pulled off in 2004. This is a sign of a very bad year for Republicans in Washington state.

1. OK, I'll be classy: McGavick refrained from personal attacks (as did Cantwell). However, his politics were out of line with the state's, so the right thing happened.
2. Sorry, but it's a short night for MIKE?. Just not his year. Back to the lobby circuit.
3. Too much one party rule and a war gone sideways at a National level created a sour disposition in this blue state toward anyone with an R after their name. That's a fact - can't say that this was a surprise. The Repubs need to get their act together for the future, as they have strayed off-course.
4. It's a sad thing.
5. I can understand why people would be disgusted with Republicans--Republicans are a pathetic, wishy-washy breed of politician. What I don't understand is why those people would prefer Democrats--the most pathetic, corrupt, dishonest breed of all.
6. The reason for the losses has more to do with religion associated with the (R) & less to do with the politics. Bush, the (R), & the war are all associated in what is apparently the majority's eyes. I don't know many democrats that are happy with their patty, but they're disgusted with what we've become... Now if we could only get a new word for conservative & keep theology away from the GOP.
7. "(as did Cantwell)"
BS... she (not the DCCC) ran the attack ads in the last week of the election ("What's good for Mike is bad for Washington"). Classless.
It's a shame, I really did believe that Mike would not have been about party politics.
Oh Well.
