Darcy Burner, in the eyes of her neighbors

Darcy Burner's neighbor from Ames Lake (poster of this public blog entry) e-mailed after reading this bit in yesterday's Seattle Times:

Jeff Cook, who preceded Burner as president [of the Ames Lake club], said Burner was the only resident willing to take over for a year. "I sort of begged Darcy to be the president last year, just to give myself a little breather,"
Ameslaker e-mailed that it is widely known in the community that Burner agreed to be president only on condition that Cook remained on the board to do most of the work.
Also widely known but not documented in writing is that Darcy was going to resign from the board after the meeting about our land issues.

Yeah, she always quits when things get tough. But she screams and swears at people who disagree with her.

He also noted:
I drove around the lake this afternoon, and found that there were
probably almost 20 Reichert signs in the neighborhood, with only 4 for [Burner]including the one in her yard and the guy across the street from her.

Interestedly, some of the Reichert signs had been tampered with in and
around the community. I have not seen this anywhere else

on the other hand, he adds:
there were probably at least 30+ signs for Roger Goodman.

So we obviously have a lot of Dems out here, but not supporting Marcy
(sorry, I had to quote Obama).

She sounds like someone who has what it takes to represent 700,000 people in Congress, no?

1. That figures! She is a last resort!

Something to consider!

2. "But she screams and swears at people who disagree with her."

Nothing surprising there, it just proves she's a card carrying liberal.

3. Just vote Reichert and be done with it. Burner said she thinks her taxes are too low, which means she thinks ANYONE else making what she makes and more is paying too little, as well. FUHGET ABOUT IT.

HAS BURNER SENT IN EXTRA $$$$ TO THE U.S. TREASURY, IN LIGHT OF HER OPINION ABOUT THE LEVEL OF FEDERAL TAXES SHE PAYS??? (I'm waiting...but I can probably guess the answer NNNUUUUOOOOOO!)

4. news article showed she did not addback the value of her house into the net worth statemetns... is that typical?

Posted by: righton on October 28, 2006 06:47 PM
5. What is amazing is that Darcy Burner has been a factor in this race at all. She has no personal record of achievement, except that she went to Harvard. She left Microsoft before being dismissed and she made through one year of law school before dropping out.

She doesn't vote regularly, she has no public service of note, and she has lied about being active in state politics.

Yet, the Democrats keep pouring money into her campaign. This has turned into a travesty.

question to lefties ought to be, "so why did you abandon compentency in candidates"

oh yea, forgot, they'd run a yellow dog if she was a democrat

7. Darcy's adventure as as president of the Ames Lake club reminds of being the Newsletter Editor of a Computer Club back about 1986. Once I volunteered I could not get out of the job because no one else has the time to do the job.

8. One should reseach Ms Burner and her relationship with her brother Tim. Tim lives in southren Thruston Co. in what could be described as a Pit.. White trash doesnt really cover this lout. She has paid for him to stay there so he would not interfer with her running for office. Trust me on this, if one were to look into how she has pulled strings for him one could make a case for her being two faced at the very least. just reseach this, there is a HUGE story that could effect the race.

Posted by: LukeLewisCo on October 28, 2006 10:54 PM
9. I don't think the Pres. of the Ames lake Homeowners assoc. has a-lot of strings to pull. Unless she starts touting this brother's accomplishments as a reason to elect her,I think it's best to leave it alone.

Posted by: Moondoggie on October 29, 2006 06:54 AM
10. LukeLewisCo, How does her brother Tim in Thurston county have anything to do with her running for congress. As white trash myself, I am offended by your use of the term in the same sentence as lout. Do you know this guy? Look, I have got close to dozen siblings with varying degrees of economic success, and it would rightfully piss me off, if I were held accountable for the actions of any of them. They were not my kids, I didn't have a hand if raising them, Despite what you may think about Burner as a politician or a person, you suck for trying to tie an adult sibling's lack of class/success/whatever with someone. I thought most contributors on this board were about individual responsibility.

Posted by: modmilq on October 29, 2006 06:58 AM
11. Luke, your post is dumb on so many levels.

I'm sure if you looked into yours, Reichert's, my background you will find uncles, brothers, etc. you are less than respectible. Having people related to you that are not perfect is called life.

And your comment is stupid. Thurston County is not that far away - like duh? Do you honestly think that Thurston County is so far away that a reporter will have trouble making it there, you moron. Perhaps you are 12 years old and so Thurston County seems like a long ways to walk, in which case I should call you ignorant and not stupid. So if Darcy is paying for him to live there it is because she is nice and kind you idiot -- perhaps a nice reporter story of Darcy helping her brother out would be wonderful.

Posted by: John McDonald on October 29, 2006 07:35 AM
12. Luke's point seems to be that she is paying people off to keep him quite, not what kind of brother he is. The payoff/strings being pulled is an issue.

Posted by: Fred on October 29, 2006 07:52 AM
13. I keep saying it, and I'll say it again. It's not even going to be close. Darcy Burner is an inexperienced junior candidate that has done a large share of her campaigning in Seattle. She's under-qualified and over-hyped. There's no way she stands a chance in the 8th. The polls and reports you've heard that have been positive for Burner are all skewed and amplified by the left. When THE poll that matters is taken, she will lose.

And it's going to be quite gratifying to see how much the DCCC wasted on this non-candidate. You'd think that if they were going to waste that kind of money, they could find someone better than Burner, but I guess not.

Those on the left, prepare yourself for a reality check.

Posted by: Jeff B. on October 29, 2006 08:13 AM
14. Fred,

I understood Luke's point completely. She is paying to keep him quiet by paying for him to live so far away in Thurston County.

Okay Fred now you get to join the complete idiot crowd. Thurston County is ~1 hour away with moderate traffic from the Northern part of Darcy's district 8th and ~20 min from the Southern part. I think most reporters are comfortable with a 20 min to 1 hour drive for a big story -- you moron.

A by the way Thurston County is EXACTLY where the State Political Press is ... ever notice where Olympia is! This would be a most stupid place to "hide".

Next question, Quiet about WHAT? Quiet that she has no experience as you liberal Republicans claim. Quiet that she worked at Microsoft. Quiet about WHAT? That she did let the worst mass murderer in the history of the US off, like Reichert. That she rose spending to US historical highs, like Reichert. That WHAT? You are a dirty slime thrower. Hauling out a brother of Darcy who she is kindly helping out and trying to make a political point is very very low.

18. Fred,

Don't pay attention to John today. He is really having a bad morning. You see he can smell defeat a week from tuesday. It is really hard for some people who have no life outside of the Election Season. But, if Burner somehow would win (help from KCE), then I can picture John singing, "I shot the Sheriff".

Kinda like over at the "Golden Barn". The spammers are the only posts that make sense. Even the regulars are starting to respond to them.

Does appear that the BCC/Cantwell/ACLU item might be getting some steam. The stranger had a blog post, the Seattle Weekly has an article, and there is a posting here under public blogs.

21.

Sibs DO matter:

Billy Carter: In late 1978 and early 1979, Carter visited Libya with a contingent from Georgia three times. He eventually registered as a foreign agent of the Libyan government and received a $220,000 loan. This led to a Senate hearing over alleged influence peddling which some in the press dubbed "Billygate." A Senate sub-committee was called To Investigate Activities of Individuals Representing Interests of Foreign Governments (Billy Carter-Libya Investigation).

Hugh Rodham: Having to pay back a $400,000 fee for work on questionable presidential pardons isn't the ex-first brother-in-law's first scrape.

Tony Rodham: Tony Rodham, Hillary Clinton's brother, said Friday he talked to former President Clinton about a pardon for a Tennessee couple convicted of bank fraud. The pardon was granted last year (2000).

Hugh and Tony Rodham embarrassed the First Family in early 1993 by asking corporate donors to pay for their inaugural parties. The brothers dropped the effort after it became public -- although they claimed they did not see anything wrong with what they were doing.

Roger Clinton: Roger was arrested for cocaine possession in 1984 and served a year in federal prison.[1] Controversially, his brother granted him a pardon amongst the list of pardons issued on January 19, 2001.

22. This from the 34th Democrats meeting june 2006

76. Darcy Burner. Chair Weiss introduced Darcy Burner, candidate for the 8th Congressional District. We need to take 15 seats from Republicans to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006. The 8th District voted for John Kerry and has elected a number of Democratic state legislators. It is quite winnable, and Darcy Burner has done a phenomenal job of campaigning and fund raising for this race.
76.1 Darcy grew up in a military family. She worked hard in school, graduated at the top of her class and put herself through Harvard. After graduation, Darcy worked for 12 years in the high tech sector - including as an executive at Microsoft.
76.2 Darcy comes from a hard working family. Her dad spent a career in the Air Force and after his retirement worked as a public school teacher. Her oldest brother is a janitor in Olympia. Her other brother serves in the Army's 101st Airborne and has served one tour of duty in Iraq. Her sister just got her nursing degree. And her youngest brother does his public service, delivering beer for the Miller Brewing Company.

Wow the lies they spin on each other. No wonder they cant see the forest for the trees.

How many years does it take to GRADUATE HARVARD?

How many years was she an executive at MS?

23. If folks are crazy enough to vote this lame M/Darcy into office for the sole purpose of voting against the GOP, then there's not much we can do now. Just have to let them live through the pain and change course next time.

My greater concern is logical people with good home training will not cast votes and leave the door wide open for libs to once again manipulate the system.

Vote, dang nabit!

24. Ragnar #21. You forgot to mention Bush I's brother, the President's uncle. Wasn't he tied up in the savings and loan scandal, something that, unlike the cases you do mention, cost you and I tons of taxpayer bailout monies.

Sibs shouldn't matter in political elections, though they often do in the politics of slime.

I like the sheriff. He's the kind of Republican that gives the party a good name, although many recent converts to the party, most of whom have no clue about that party's grand old traditions, derogatorily label him a RINO.

Unfortunately, this may not be a good year for Republicans of any stripe, for reasons beyond particular personalities and competencies. We could be on the verge of one of those historical elections which nationalize ordinarily local races. If so, the sheriff is screwed, for no reasons of his, or the democrat.

25. mj, nice post

Many of us Reagan Republicans are not happy. We have been Republicans for a very very long time. I have consider myself a Republican since 1979. I voted straight line Republican with only 3 exceptions in minor races since I reached voting age including Bush 2000 and Bush 2004. We had a little party in downtown Bellevue on the night of the 2004 election.

Most of us Reagan Republicans were/are actual believers in limited government, strong defense, and moderate regulation. Unfortunately many recent Republicans like Riechert are primarily opportunitists. For the past decade, it has made more sense for an electable person to run as a Republican because they will have power instead of living in opposition land.

Please remember Riechert has only been a known "Republican" for 2 years, people could not figure out his political bent prior to his announcement.

What today's RINOs don't understand is there are many Reagan Republicans who just won't tolerate our party standing for nothing. You think that $X will ensure the vote turnout, You think that a bogus gay marriage bill, or a parental notification law will keep us happy, while you spend our future into oblivion -- well think again. That we have reached the point were we are going to vote for Democrats. As Reagan said, I did not leave the party, the party left me.

Posted by: John McDonald on October 29, 2006 01:24 PM
26. It is amusing that the polls show most Americans are about to vote for Democrats in Congress because they want that party to represent them, yet many Republicans are ignoring this message and running on personal attacks rather than which party should be in charge.

Maybe that is smart because the Republican party is so flawed that it knows it can't defend its positions. And personal attacks do affect some voters. But Republican partisans are ignoring what voters are saying, and they know it.

In her ad targeting Reichert, Burner is trying to make the case that Reichert is out of touch with his district, alleging in one commercial that "Dave Reichert voted to cut veterans health care."

This claim is misleading.

According to Answers.com the definition of Misleading is: deceptive, confusing. Which is, in my view, an accurate description of her entire campaign.

28. Hi Bruce, good point.

But what can the Republicans run on?

Fiscal Restraint? Sneer, highest spending since LBJ.
Strong Defense? Laughing, took FDR 4 years to win WWII, it's taking GWB that long to lose Baghdad.
Good Government? Belly Laughing now. $100B spent on Homeland Security and still can't evacuate 20,000 from the Super Dome in 5 days.
Pro Family, Pro Life? Weeping with laughter, did not even talk about until the polls showed a landslide coming.
Supreme Court nominations? Stop it, Stop it this is just too funny... he nominated his personal lawyer who wrote cute little notes to him.
Scary to terrorists? I can't breath this is too funny. Charters a jet full of bin ladens out of this country, fails to capture osama, and constantly talks about the wonderful religion of Islam, pays HAMAS $300M, loses S. Lebannon, Somalia, Mauratania, and maybe soon Sudan to the Islamic terrorist, and sets up Sharia law in Afghanistan.

What's left to run on Bruce?

Great Economy? With massive deficit spending, commodity prices at all time highs,
Trade? Trade Deficit is at an all time high and the value of the dollar 40% lower then we he took office.
Employment Rate? All the employment has come through the health care sector due in large part to deficit spending and it's still on average higher than the Clinton years.

Anything else?

We have one of the highest minimum wages in the country, how can you not be happy in this Socialist utopia? Why don't you run along and ask Jay to help you out, he is your Congressman right? We here in the 8th will work with our Congressman. You have never been able to convince anyone with common sense to support Burner. But maybe you and Dougie P. and Phil S. can get together and have Susan run in your district in 2 years. Who knows maybe she will get off of the Bench and actually 'DO IT". You are the shame of the Haida.

Little Johnny is just another Netroots Nutcase, probably a paid troll. He can have no impact on the 8th, because like most of Darcy's followers, they don't live here. Just remember to vote for Riechert, maybe then Henry can be released from full time daycare to custody of his mom.

Of course, she thinks the voters in the 8th are "morons" who won't pick up on that she doesn't really talk about what she's ever done for this country. Funny thing that.

Posted by: ferrous on October 30, 2006 11:16 AM
38. It's all about comparisons, Johnny boy.

Fiscal Restraint? And Democrats want to spend far more than over spendy Republicans.
Strong Defense? And Democrats want to cut and run from everything. At least Republicans want to fight to save this country.
Good Government? More bureaucracy under Democrats. I guess that's good government to you but not to me.
Pro Family, Pro Life? As opposed to anti-life through the 3rd term, anti-family in terms of pushing recognized gay marriage. That would be the Democrat way.
Supreme Court nominations? Ginsberg. Enough said.
Scary to terrorists? Bill Clinton. Enough said.

Great Economy? Deficits as part of GDP are lowest in 40 years. This translates to Democrats as the concept of a blank check.
Trade? The dollar has been gaining, but I guess you haven't paid attention in the past year.
Employment Rate? Socialist Europe has unemployment rates in the double digits throughout. You figure it out.

Posted by: ferrous on October 30, 2006 11:23 AM
39. Ferrous,

Dose of Reality.

Last time Democrats were in charge of the White House, spending was controlled. Since Bush has been in charge spending has skyrocketed. Bush increased spending faster then any president since LBJ even when the war and homeland security are taking out of the equation.

It's not about fighting, it's about winning. What's the plan to win. We have already lost in Iraq, the only thing left is to figure out how we get out and try to save some face.

Last major entitlement was put in place by Republicans ... see the Drug Bill.

The Republicans have had 6 years to improve the pro-family, pro-life laws and have done nothing. Only in the run up to elections do they even say anthing. There is no substantive difference between R's and D's on life issues. It's all just talk, but apparently talk works for some people like you.

Deficits are the lowest in 40 years... Laughing really hard at this one... we had a surplus under Clinton. There was NO deficit when Bush took office - how do you get 40 years please explain.

After the 40% drop the dollar has come back by about 5%.

40. Many of the races have candidates who have gone through training to market themselves as hard working average Americans. Once in office their voting records will reveal a different story. Two training camps are the local “Institute for a Democratic Future” http://www.democraticfuture.org/ and the “Wellstone Camp” http://www.wellstone.org/camp/index.aspx . Darcy Burner and Eric Oemig are graduates of Wellstone. Darcy does not have a “public” record of volunteer work because her actual record may be too progressive for the community she hopes to represent.

Posted by: Ann on October 31, 2006 09:04 AM
41. John,

I LOVE hearing how Clinton had a "balanced budget" and "controlled spending" ... You know how that occurred??

He had Republicans in the Congress and Senate who made sure of it.

And did you read that President Bush has cut the deficit in HALF last week? Go educate yourself... you are woefully out of touch.

Posted by: Lauri on October 31, 2006 09:08 AM
42. Lauri,

I thought President Bush had the Republicans in Congress and the Senate as well to make sure he did not blow the budget. But the Budget got blown anyways, even when you subtract the Iraq War and Homeland Security.

So I guess you are saying that President Clinton was the key to balancing the budget because everything else politically was equal. I'm sure he is pleased with your endorsement.

Please Please Explain how this happened?
