It's an old joke, but it often applies to current events.
A patient went into a psychiatrist's office for an initial exam. The psychiatrist began with a projective test. First, he showed the man a square and asked, "What does that make you think of?"
The patient glanced at the square and said, "Sex!"
The psychiatrist showed the man a triangle and asked the man, "Now, what does this make you think of?"
The patient replied, "Sex!"
By now, as you can imagine, the psychiatrist was beginning to wonder just what was going on in the man's head, but he continued with the test and showed the man a circle and asked, "And what does that make you think of?"
The patient again replied, "Sex!"
The psychiatrist was a bit flustered by these responses and so, instead of continuing with the test, he stopped and said, "Mr. Feit, you seem to be obsessed with sex."
Feit replied: "Me, obsessed with sex? Who's been showing me all these dirty pictures?"
If you need help understanding my point, read this post, or this post, or, if you must, read this one by Feit — though I must warn you that the language you find there is not fit for family reading.
And there are some facts that deserve open discussion, especially on the left, where so many can not see the beams in their own eyes. Both Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice have frequently been attacked by the left, often in ways that have tinges of racism, and sometimes more than tinges. Columnist Michelle Malkin routinely gets racist (and sometimes unspeakably vulgar) emails from leftists. (We are even beginning to see occasional attacks from the left that have tinges, and sometimes more, of anti-Semitism.) And I could list many more examples if I wanted to. These attacks have drawn almost no criticism from my friends in the Democratic party.
Neither party is entirely free from racism, but I think the party that drives out racist demagogues, such as David Duke, is far better than the one than hugs them to its breast. Need an example of the latter? Try Al Sharpton, whose racist demagoguery may have led to deaths in two riots. And again, I could add many more examples if I wanted to.

Posted by: swatter on October 27, 2006 11:03 AMThey think that by pushing the extremes, they will appeal to the middle. News flash: profanity laced, statist, socialist, aggressive tirades are not a substitute for convincing rational arguments. These fools have hijacked the Dem party bus and driven it right off the cliff. Leftists are so completely cowed by their own ideology of fear and unquestionable "virtue" that actual ranking Democrats and Left Leaning Mainstream Media outlets have done nothing but passively watch the spectacle unfold.
Ideas have consequences, and the extremists are now sleeping in the dirty bed that they made.

Pot, meet kettle.
