ACORN screws-up, disenfranchises 1,100 voters

Seattle Times: "Registration forms' late delivery makes 1,100 ineligible to vote".

ACORN collected the registration forms and shipped them to King County via UPS. RCW 29A.08.115 is clear on the effective date of registrations submitted by organizations and ACORN missed the deadline for the applicants to vote this November.

Ironically, ACORN was a plaintiff in the federal case to invalidate Washington election integrity statutes on the grounds that bureaucrat errors might disenfranchise some voters (none of the alleged disenfranchisement was proven). Yet ACORN has demonstrably disenfranchised hundreds through its own disregard for the law (never mind the thousands of fraudulent registrations it has turned in around the country). It should be unlawful for any third-party to collect completed registration forms. But if they do they should at least be criminally liable for their misconduct.

1. Aha. ACORN strikes again, proving, once again, that they are a bunch of NUTS. Or maybe A CORN on the toe of fair, clean elections.

2. One can only hope that one of those 1100 people will sue the crap out of ACORN for disenfranchising them from this election

Where's the ACLU when you need them?

Oh, I forgot. They're defending that guy in the man-dog sex case.

My bad.

3. Once again the Dhimmi's shoot themselves in the foot (or is it head?). Despite the knowledge of ACORN's extremist hard-left agenda, and realizing that most of the registrations in question represent people who would likely vote counter to me, I lament the loss of their voting franchise.

Tis a pity...

4. What got me about the story is that ACORN was doing a voter drive for King County in Pierce County.

5. Uhaul economics index bodes continued decline of Seattle.

In an update by well respected consultants Jericho Research L.L.C. at Uhaul economic trends for the Seattle area families continue to flee King County for inland locales.

Here are the latest figures for a move to Bozeman from Seattle.

http://reservations.uhaul.com/(iyx3rf55msm221mteszno4ya)/quote.aspx?referenceNumber=1038543067&move=oneway

The cost for the largest Uhaul truck from Bozeman to Seattle is $1030.

And here are the latest figures for a move to Seattle from Bozeman.

http://reservations.uhaul.com/(iyx3rf55msm221mteszno4ya)/quote.aspx?referenceNumber=1038543142&move=oneway

The cost to move to Seattle from Bozeman is $495 for the same size truck.

The over 100% higher cost to move to Bozeman from Seattle rather than to Seattle from Bozeman is because so many people are moving to Bozeman from Seattle that the trucks are piling up in Bozeman creating an over-supply and incentivising Uhaul to offer a very low rate to renters to return trucks to the Seattle market where lots of money is to be made renting trucks to the wise who seek to leave. (Jericho Research realizes that the tilt-y head look all tyrannist gave their screen when they read the word supply is quite normal for tyrannists and those in the room with a tyrannist who react in such a manner are advised to do something to distract the tyrannist easing his or his discomfort and confusion.)

The trend is not favorable. At Jericho
Research's last report on this matter the cost to move to Bozeman from Seattle exceeded the cost to move to Seattle by only three hundred dollars. This indicates that the continued oppression by the tyrannists in the State of Washington, King County and Seattle is further people in even greater numbers to flee for greener pastures.

To ensure that Acorn shall not fall very far from its tree, will the last family leaving King County please bar the exit behind you.

That is all.

6. OK, Another 1,100 votes trashed in the upcoming election! How incompetent must King County/Simms be until this election machine is taken over by the Feds! Talk about incompetence, how can Ron look at a camera with a straight face?

Where is the new Elections Director in this catastrophe? Oh - he is on a 3 week vacation!

Good F&&&k**g God, what has to be done until HONESTY RETURNS TO KING COUNTY ELECTIONS?

7. Well that's certainly interesting. KCE should extra-scrutinize EVERY registration turned in by ACORN since they have a proven history of fraudulent registrations.

8. What does King County elections have to do with ACORN? Is the new elections director responsible for the conduct of ACORN?

9. "It should be unlawful for any third-party to collect completed registration forms."

Do you mean that only individuals should turn in their voter registration forms? In regard to people registering voters, I remember registering to vote at a grocery store in Colorado Springs when I lived there years ago. I don't recall the name of the organization, but I thought they were performing a public service by making it easier for people to register.

10. Frank (#9): I think it's fine for organizations to hand out registration forms and encourage people to register, but that the voter should be responsible for mailing or turning in their own form. While it might be nice to believe that groups like ACORN make it easier for people to vote, they have a track record of awful errors or worse (both by disenfranchising eligible voters and turning in fraudulent registrations) that it's not a good idea to allow them to take possession of completed registration forms.

I feel that people should have to take responsibility for their own registration forms by turning it in themselves. That is one of the problems facing our country today. to many people dont want to be bothered with doing something as menial as turning in their own voter regestration or even to take the time to vote. I feel that voting is not only a right it is a responsibility and I for one do not look for others to take care of something for me that is this important!

12. Are you really sure they disenfranchised 1100 would-be legal voters? I half suspect they disenfranchised mainly dead people, out-of-state residents, imaginary people living in garages or storage units and a few of them miniature people living in those private mailboxes.

Posted by: Doug on October 21, 2006 07:36 PM
13. Doug, no, they probably made sure that those got sent in on time. It was likely only the Republican registrations that they, (whoops), happened to mishandle!

14. Bill H,

Actually perhaps ACORN mishandled these on purpose so that they would have a basis for a lawsuit after the election. Just look at the story. The 1100 people are supposed to be "minority and low-income voters" (you know victim class) and they have a UPS records showed the package was initially picked up in Fife at 2:05 p.m. Oct. 6. This way they have cover for the D's if KCE cant pull another one off.

Here is another question that the story never tells. When was the ACORN drive in Pierce County?

Good question. Why would they mail registrations to KC from Pierce county.

ACORN is suppose to be the experts here(lol), they should have dropped them in a blue USPS box, not like they aren't everywhere. Hell finding a UPS dropoff is much more difficult.

Egan from KCRE seems to holding her ground. When people take their right to vote seriously, and quit making excuses that they are "disenfranchised" we all may feel a bit better about the elections system.

If we made the voters of this state jump the same hoop to vote legally, as we do for a drivers license or school entry.

They just might do it, too. Massachusetts may have the unions but Seattle got the old hippy moonbats from California.
