Deanron2 doesn't exist. Time for an elected Auditor
The P-I reports that there is no Deanron2
Ron Sims ... thought he had a first-rate candidate lined up to recommend to the County Council for confirmation, but the deal fell through, a Sims spokeswoman said last week.
I'm skeptical there ever was a deal. And the timing is particularly interesting. Sims used the spectre of a new candidate to kill the Council's proposal for a November ballot measure to amend the County Charter with an elected elections Auditor. Such an amendment requires the Council to pass an ordinance
45 days before the November 7 election (September 23). Passing a
new ordinance without a super-majority requires
at least 7 more days(September 16). Darn, we just missed the deadline.
If the Council can still put the previously introduced elected Auditor charter change proposal on the November ballot, it's incumbent that they do so.

1. Stefan--
Don Ron Sims King's secret "first-rate" candidate was so secret, RON DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS!!!
Nor did anyone else on the Council or in the Election Department.
Since this candidate has now turned down the opportunity to work for a crook, I believe all correspondence on this mysterious candidate is now a PUBLIC RECORD!
2. The candidate had the mail ballot plan!
3. There was a candidate. Problem is, he went to Area 51. Let's ask WA Sen. candidate Goodspaceguy if he's seen the auditor lately.(insert 50's wavy space music here) May King County elections live long & prosper.
4. WHO WILL SIGN OFF ON THE FINAL TALLEY THEN? -- SINCE THIS IS AN APPOINTED POSITION SHOULDN'T BE RON SIMS HIMSELF WHO WILL CERTIFY THE ELECTION? CAN WE FORCE HIM TO BE THE SIGNATURE?
5. Sounds like time for a freedom of information request for all emails and correspondence related to the so called "candidate". Shouldn't the public know WHEN this person turned down the job and WHY????
6. Watch for the press release from Sims claiming that SP scared the candidate away...
7. No one currently working (sucking) King County will accept those positions based upon losing their precious tenure and massive retirement plans in a few years when it becomes elected.
Time now for an elected Director.
8. Bob Ferguson should be outraged that he was duped into changing his position under false pretense. As such, he should immediately take action and follow through with his original commitment and put this on the ballot NOW, not years later.
Should we all collectively hold our breaths waiting for that to happen? Or, could it be that Mr. Ferguson is not of the strong character we believed and that he too is nothing more than a pawn in Sims plan to keep hold of the Elections Dpt?
9. I call on Mr. Furguson to have the spine to reverse his decision and get this on to the ballot this fall.
10. I call for Washington to split into two entities. Let the State of Washington be guided and controled by the State of Washignton and let the county king become a separate entity, like the "other washignton," It would require a snappy subtitle like the eastern washington "DC," say "Washignton BS." for it's unequalled load of it. Then they can have their way and we can tell them where to get off.
11. Since King County Council Member, Bob Ferguson waivered and changed his mind based solely on the fact that the imaginary Elections Dpt. "candidate" who was about to be hired would not take the job if it was an elected position, I suggest we contact him regarding the latest turn of events. He can be reached via e-mail at Bobferguson@metrokc.gov.
