"Real Democrat"

State Democrat Party Chairman "Cuba" Dwight Pelz has been spamming the 35th Legislative District with this robocall message [WAV file]

I'm asking for your help to elect a real Democrat to the state Senate ... Kyle Taylor Lucas is a real Democrat ... Tim Sheldon supported George Bush for president and even starred in TV ads for Bush. We need to fire Tim Sheldon and hire Kyle Taylor Lucas, a real Democrat."
Sen. Sheldon says: "I've never appeared in tv ads for Bush"

UPDATE: Today's The Olympian has an article on the 35th District race. Pelz admits that his robocall was untruthful:

Pelz said he simply had been "mistaken," confusing ads Sheldon did for GOP gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi with Sheldon's role in promoting Democrats for Bush. He did not express regret.
Maybe he thinks a "real Democrat" is someone who doesn't regret lying to people.

1. Typical lying liberal socialist. Democrats are liars.

2. Folks, the Democrats goal is to win at all costs. This is noted time and again. Republicans are usually too nice to mix it up since they are conservative for the most part.

After discussing a recent election with a lifelong elected Democrat, he said tell them what they want to hear because they won't be able to pin you down later.

If Pelz wins and boots Sheldon, he has accomplished his goal and that is the bottom line. The ends justifies the means. You may get Democrats that can point out R problems, but most importantly, the Ds do this across the board.

Did you notice Chavez of Venezuela is starting to sound like a Democrat when he says Bush did 9-11 bombing.

3. I voted for Brian Sonntag and would've happily appeared in a TV ad for his campaign last time around.
Does that make me not a real republican/conservative? No, it just means he was the better candidate that year for auditor.

Note to Pelz: Lots of democrats voted for Dino the last time around. Will they be kicked out of the party, too?

Vote for Sheldon.

4. right swatter on Chavez--

ever notice, libs and dems are more than happy to quote Mexico, intl. law and other countries' interferences with OUR politics, yet scream to high heaven when conservatives commment or want to influence other countries' politics?

...and Pelz? Putz!

6. "Real Democrats" - Persons willing to put party interests above right and wrong, security, or the welfare of the American people.

The state Democratic Party under Pelz, as well as the national party under Howard Dean are certainly being controlled by real Democrats. I just wonder whether honest grass-roots Democrats, who understand right and wrong and the need to defend our people and borders from attacks, really understand what the real Democrats would be willing to allow to regain power?

It should scare them to death?

7. Evidently being a "real" 'Rat means you never apologize for anything, even when you are shown to be nothing more than a lying scumbag. But my guess is that Lucas gains votes from this. After all, this is SayWA, i.e., 'Ratland. Being endorsed by a lying, stinking 'Rat gains you favor among likeminded 'Rats.

8. Imagine... Fidel Pelz... "confused."

Whoda thunk it?

9. I think it was the film Love Story where they said "Being a Democrat is never having to saying you're sorry!"

Something like that anyway.

10. Pelz = Spam!

Tell the callers that you have officially registered on the National Democratic "Do not call list"

They'll stall for a few seconds while they think that through...

11. MJC,

Thankfully I see that Joe Lieberman is continually gaining on Lamont in Connecticut. He is now up 7.3% on Lamont.

Joe may be liberal on alot of things, but he is is one I can still admire as he stands with the president on the war on terriorists. He understands that terrorists are flocking to Iraq to fight us, rather than our homeland. It is central to their ambitions these days.

12. To be fair, Tim Sheldon is not exactly in the same league as Joseph Lieberman. The voting records are pretty clear -- Sheldon, love him or hate him, is pretty much as conservative as the Republican voting bloc overall. I'm not sure why he's a Democrat (although I suppose he might have a lot more competitive races running as a Republican), but more power to him for it.

This idiocy aside, I do not think there is much contesting that Sheldon is a weird fit for the Democratic Party, and probably remains one mostly so he won't have to run as a conservative Republican in a moderate-to-left-of-centre district.

13. Being a secular liberal is never having to say you are sorry, because you are a victim of mental illness. That is how their twisted minds work - its all about them... The problem with people in urban areas is that they live in the past, they are a majority Democrat, but many of them fail to realize the leadership and many of the politicians of the Democrat Party have embraced the hammer and sickle.

I am amazed that Sheldon remains a Democrat - clearly the leadership shills of Democrat party have left him.

14. This is the typical nominating process. It's normal, for the process. If someone wants to get the moonbat vote, they will try to appeal to voting moonbats. As a Republican, I am still trying to decide who seems the least Socialist in my local race. It's surprising how many RINO Republicans believe the correct government policies can solve our problems. They don't seem to grasp that government IS our problem.

15. Sheldon is more of an FDR Democrat than the super-left-wing, tax-and-spend, Bush-is-the-devil, Democrats of today. Democrats of that bygone era supported efforts to protect America and practiced a measure of fiscal reponsibility.

Why is it that Democrats these days are anxious to call liberal-minded Repuclicans "moderates" or "mavericks", while conservative-minded Democrats, such as Sheldon (and on the national level, lawmakers like Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller) are not described in the same way?

With the pick-a-party primary in this state, thogh, the state Democratic Party probably feels that, since they won't be getting votes from Republicans in that Senate race, they should back the super-leftist candidate...

16. RadioGuy, I'm the last person to defend the GOP and Democrats' mutual harpooning of their moderates. But Tim Sheldon, if you look at his voting records, is a solid conservative. He's not a communitarian, not a libertarian. He's conserative on basically everything. He would fit wonderfully into the Washington Republican Party. Party affiliation doesn't mean much, but I really do not see why he doesn't flip to the GOP (beyond political concerns). That having been said, I don't mind him staying either. ;)
