As I mentioned below, Washington Citizens for Fair Elections is meeting this evening. The main item to be discussed is King County's proposal for an elected auditor.
I'm told that Councilmember Bob Ferguson was invited to speak and will attend if he can work it around a previous committment.
Pot luck dinner at 6, meeting at 7 at University Heights Center, Room 110

Yep clean elections alright.

2) Should the public vote on it.
3) Will the auditor be a partisan or non-partisan position.
4) Should the public vote be held this November or put off until 2009.
Ferguson answered yes on the first two and he indicated that a county auditor should be a partisan position.
His biggest concern about the fourth issue was that a well qualified candidate is currently being interviewed who has no desire to run for elected office. Additionally, there will be a year and a half turn around between when a vote can be put to the people in November and when an auditor can finally take office in January of 2008. King County would only have an interim auditor in the meanwhile which is a period of time Ferguson said was crucial to getting things accomplished at the elections office.
I hope I am wrong, but the lockstep marching of the democrats on this council on every partisan election issue remind me of a certain country in Europe in WWII.
