It's in the P-I

The P-I editorial board comments on the foiled terrorism plot, concluding:

despite bold promises of success in a "war on terrorism," we may well have to learn to live with the prospect of terrorism as long as social and economic conditions in the world are ripe for exploitation by violent fanatics.
The editorial does not identify those "social and economic conditions in the world". Nor does it explain why the people who react to these conditions with uncontrollable fits of mass murder are disproportionately middle class men born in Britain, Canada or the United States to Pakistani immigrant parents.

1. One of the defining elements of the MSM is that they have no real understanding of religion and are exclusively materialists. You don't actually have to be a Marxist to fully imbibe Marxist reasoning in terms of society. Thus all problems have socio-economic roots, which leads one to the dead end of thinking that a better state welfare plan in Pakistan would get those middle class British/Saudi/Egyption Muslims to stop blowing up planes. ???

...we may well have to learn to live with the prospect of terrorism as long as social and economic conditions in the world are ripe for exploitation by violent fanatics.

Or...maybe, just maybe...we in the west could actually take our gloves off and fight the war we need to fight, as much as *we* don't want to, because apparently Islamist fanatics *do* want to.

3. This is only to be expected from England's Pakistani community. Lord Norman Tebbit knew 16 years ago that they were going to be a problem.

But the indications of that didn't stop only in 1990. What Tebbit saw in 1990 continues today.

Here is some articles about what happened on Tuesday.

----

'Traitor' Sajid battles against the crowd
By Staff Sports Reporter

BOLTON-born Sajid Mahmood won his battle with a
section of the Headingley crowd to play a key role in England's emphatic third npower Test victory over Pakistan.

The Lancashire seamer became a target for a particular corner of the ground, who labelled him a traitor because his parents were both born in Pakistan before emigrating to England in the 1970s.

--------------------

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/england/4775149.stm

During England's Test victory over Pakistan on Tuesday he was targeted by some fans who accused him of betraying his Pakistani heritage.

------------

The British Pakistani community may live within
England, but they don't consider themselves of
England.

Sajid Mahmood WAS BORN IN ENGLAND so it is right and proper for him to play for England. So the real traitors were those who were calling him traitor.

For someone to get a response like that in front of a crowd of Cricket fans in England, shows the problem that Lord Tebbit was talking about 16 years ago with the "Cricket Test".

The disloyality of the British of Pakistani descent doesn't stop at Cricket. They are the source of the "homegrown" terrorism that the
English faces today.

And that puts England into a Sticky Wicket By George.

5. The whole poverty-leads-to-terrorism has been so massively disproven so many times, it's difficult to believe the editors of a major newspaper can be just plain that ignorant.

Yeah, Osama bin Laden: Pauper from the wretchedly poor nation of Saudi Arabia.

6. Yep, the terrorists are just the oppressed poor. The expensive and time consuming plots they hatch are really pretty amazing given that they've got nothing.

We should all just give up and hide in our closets and hope the Islamic Imams stop preaching hatred and that terror just magically disappears.

7. As early as 16 years ago, Lord Norman Tebbit, a
British politician expressed his concerns about the increasing numbers of British Citizens who identified with a foreign nationality more than their British citizenship.

An example he gave was what he saw at a cricket match in Great Britain between their national team and that of Pakistan. He saw a great number of British citizens of Pakistani descent rooting not for England but for Pakistan. And they weren't all naturalized first generation British citizens, but third and fourth generations as well.

How, he wondered, can these people be considered
British citizens and take part in the responsibilities of British citizenship, when they themselves don't even really think of themselves as British as indicated by them rooting for a foreign team instead their own national team?

And what are the consequences for British society of having a significant segment of its population that will not integrate itself into British Culture but instead identifies itself more with a foreign country than their own?

This "test" of British citizenship came to be known in England as the "Cricket Test" and as you can imagine was greeted with hostility and calls of racism from the Left.

But his concerns were unfortunately vindicated on July 7th, 2005 when "home grown" terrorists hit the London Underground subway system with suicide attacks And now we have another terrorist plot which might have just included "home grown" terrorists in Great Britain. "Home Grown" Terrorists of Pakistani Origin.

Lord Tebbit could see that a problem was brewing in 1990. Too bad people didn't listen to Lord Tebbit's concerns in 1990 instead of ridiculing his "Cricket Test".

For More Information:

Tebbit attacks 'unreformed' Islam

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4163484.stm

Lord Tebbit said the 'cricket test' was a means of
gauging whether a community had integrated.

"If a community was looking back at where it had come from instead of looking forward with the people to whom they had come to, then there is going to be a problem sooner or later."

Just Tuesday, August 8th 2006 the English Cricket team was playing Pakistan in Leeds, a city with a large Pakistani community. Playing for England was Sajid Mahmood, and some of the crowd were chanting 'traitor' at him.

The Lancashire seamer became a target for a particular corner of the ground, who labelled him a traitor because his parents were both born in Pakistan before emigrating to England in the 1970s.

Sajid Mahmood WAS BORN IN ENGLAND so it is right and proper for him to play for England. So the real traitors were those who were calling him traitor.

The British Pakistani community may live within England, but far too many of them don't consider themselves of England.

This is how the situation is today in Great Britianstan.

8. The PI and the Times don't want to face up to the fact profiling is an important tool needed to crush these fanatics. I am sure the British police did not spend their time making sure they had equal percentages of all ethnic backgrounds included in the search for the masterminds behind the planned plane bombings. The moonbats consistently try to deflect the fact it is muslim males who have attempted (and often succeeded) in destroying US targets to try to destroy our way of life.

Just look at the absolutely pathetic response from the local papers in trying to minimize the islamic facsist connection at the Jewish Federation. The papers made much ado about Haq's mental state and the fact he was a "recently baptized" Christian. Hey, clueless ones!! The guy forced his way into the building, announced he was a muslim who didn't like Jews, and started shooting. Now the bozo is trying to plead guilty, probably thinking he will have the 70 virgins waiting for him upon execution. Imagine his great suprise when he finds himself burning in hell instead.

9. The purpose of terrorism is to make people change the way they live their lives,if we "have to put up with it" the terrorists have won. Really it is that simple. I am flying on Sunday and I am going to Europe in September (Sept 11 actually) on an American flag airline, I will not let them win.

12. An interesting article here about The Root Cause of Terrorism. Strangly enough, it's not "liberals" or even "oppressed masses" that they put forward as the cause, but "totalitarianism". Anyway, interesting read for anyone interested:

http://www.aish.com/societyWork/society/The_Root_Cause_of_Terrorism.asp

"the root cause of terrorism is totalitarianism. Only a totalitarian regime, by systemically brainwashing its subjects, can indoctrinate hordes of killers to suspend all moral constraints for the sake of a twisted cause"

I agree with this premise, but disagree about what the author says about Bush. IF the Iraq war had been handled competently, IF we would have had a plan for securing the nation, IF we had decent intelligence assets at our disposal... IF IF IF....

In my opinion, the way to build Democracy in the middle east is not by brute force, but by example and by economic incentive.

13. For some reason this brought out some things in my quotes file.

"We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you." --Hussein Massawi, a former Hezbollah leader

Get any clearer than that?

I've read the koran (twice - UGH) and I have no questions left about what needs to be done.

They wanted me to understand, I do now and wish I didn't. That first quote pretty much sums it all up.

I'd love to think there might actually be a mythical "moderate muslim", but after reading the koran, I do not see how they can exist and since lying to the infidel is proscribed, trust is just right out and at any point they can decide to come true to their book. Real shame, sigh.

After this I am firmly convinced we are in a struggle for our very survival in both our personal person (unless you wish to convert) and our way of life.

We have got to wake up and deal with this correctly, no, we do not want to do that, but we are being left no choice if we choose to survive as a people.

Another couple quotes I like:

"I'm anti-war! Trouble is, the enemy isn't." -- Unknown

Gen. Curtis LeMay: "If you kill enough of them, they stop fighting".

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things." --John S. Mill

18. I still say the main reason young Muslim males are more than willing to fly airplanes into buildings/blow themselves up is not social or economic conditions. For whatever reason--religious upbringing, body odor, back hair--they just aren't "getting any." And the mullahs are telling them they can do it until it falls off with 72 ripe virgins if they would just strap on a vest and push a button when told to do so. A pretty attractive sales pitch to horny, frustrated males.

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly
fanatics intent on killing us -- law enforcement and security
screeners are not allowed to "profile" people in public places or
security checkpoints. However, they will continue to perform
random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots
with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members
of the President's security detail, 85-year-old congressmen with
metal hips and even Medal of Honor recipients. But targeting
Middle Eastern male Islamists between the ages 17 and 40

(d) Middle Eastern Islamist males between the ages of 17 and 40.

President George Bush said this week, "America is at war with
Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us
who love freedom, to hurt our nation." The Council on
American-Islamic Relations issued an immediate objection to the
President's reference to "Islamic fascists". Nihad Awad,
executive director of CAIR protested, "We have to isolate these
individuals because there is nothing in the Koran or the Islamic
faith that encourages people to be cruel or to be vicious or to
be criminal. Muslims world wide know that for sure." In light of
this objection, we are left to ponder why every Islamic leader in
the U.S., and the world, does not publicly condemn every terror
action being undertaken in the name of the god of Islam. Their
silence is deafening...

Between 1970 and present, there were more than 60 other notable
examples of terrorism perpetrated by Middle Eastern male
Islamists between the ages 17 and 40, but we think you get the
point. Singling out "Middle Eastern male Islamists between the
ages 17 and 40" is not "ethnic profiling," it's "terrorist
profiling" -- acting on prolific evidence.

The terror list of killings is very long. I've taken the time to compile an exhaustive list prior to the Iraq War.

I'll post it on my website in a few weeks.

Most of the top terrorist are not only middle class, most are upper class. The Bin Laden family for example are worth billions. Sayyid Qutb the Carl Marx of modern terrorism was educated and travelled extensively.

Only Bush and his allies (I think his last ally must be Laura and she is starting to wonder if he has lost his mind) still think that Islam is a religion of peace (his words not mine).

"Members of the left, along with the far larger number of squishy "progressives," have grossly failed to live up to their responsibility to think; rather, they are merely reacting, substituting tired slogans for thought. The majority of those "progressives" who take comfort from Stone and Chomsky are not committed, militant anti-imperialists or anti-capitalists. Nothing so muscular. They are of the sort who, discovering a viper in the bed of their child, would place the first call to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals."

however, when FBI "profiling" is used to catch a scum-bag child molester, serial murderer or criminal, then liberals call it "scientifically-based law enforcement" and rush to the camera for their "15 minutes of fame." why the double standard? profiling solves crimes; unfair? maybe, but the good of all demands all tools be used; to selectively use p.c.-approved methods is to condemn us all to victimhood;
