Terrorist, victims identified

The KING-5 11pm news broadcast identified the terrorist who shot six women today at the Seattle Jewish Federation as 31-year-old Naveed Haq of Pasco, an American citizen of Pakistani origin. He has a criminal record and was awaiting trial on charges of lewd conduct.

The P-I has identified four of the victims:

Cheryl Stumbo and Layla Bush, 23, were in critical condition last night. Carol Goldman was in satisfactory condition with a knee injury.

A hospital spokesman identified the pregnant woman as Dayna Klein, who was in satisfactory condition with a gunshot wound in her left forearm and was scheduled for surgery Friday night.

May they have a full and speedy recovery.

UPDATE: The Seattle Times has more on Haq.

1. Seattle is one of America's greatest Bush-hating, Muslim-sympathizing cites. Remember all those editorials from our liberal dailies refusing to print the Danish Cartoons? Out of respect for Muslims? Seattle is blameless in its deference to Muslim sensibility. So now we await the liberal left's and the various Muslim PR association's twisted explanations for this atempted mass murder. Of course they will try to lay it at Bush's feet - the sickos.

2. Islam encourages violence for insults and a method of conversion. Until that changes, nothing will change.

3. May the victims' families find strength and resolve and comfort at this difficult time--you have my prayers.

May Stattle and world liberals see the folly of appeasement and p.c. denial as to who and why this continues to happen. How many more innocents till the lesson sinks in? This is what tolerance and diversity buys you. I don't advocate hate, but i do advocate self-preservation and a big stick. Suggestion: community legally-armed volunteer guards. Unless you trust p.c. Gil the Chief--the guy who had his own gun stolen.

4. This is not going to help Democrats in the November elections. Might even get liberal Jewish individuals to reconsider their support of the left.

5. Just three questions.....

1 - Did the shooter attend a Mosque?
2 - What was taught at the Mosque?
3 - Are the police going to investigate the Mosque?

6. Daedalus - The guy's father founded some Muslim assosiation in the Tri-Cities, but he himself wasn't particularly religious according to his friends and former roommates and had some issues with some of the teachings of Islam (according to some of the press reports I've read). However, he apparently did have a bit of an anti-Semitical streak in him, was on meds for bipolar disorder, and was supposed to be tried this week for lewd conduct for exposing himself to several women at a shoppig center at Kennewick.

Obviously, this guy had a lot of problems and this may of been a case of him not so much being an Islamic nut, but just a nut with some previous exposure to Islam

7. In the US, most people, and especially our media sit in denial of a cancerous hate growing worldwide. In many illegitimate states, active government support, both financial and ideological is given to terror. A big part of that support is the tacit or even overt tolerance of Islamic Mullahs that preach violent hatred. In these cultures which are largely based on Islam, a steady diet of Jihad is fed to the many uneducated or uneducated populations. Is it any wonder that some actually act on these violent visions?

Until the West has the guts to demand that all legitimate or illegitimate Islamic states put an immediate stop to the dissimenation of violence and hatred, and back up that demand with our superior military force, we are going to continue to see violent attacks all over the world.

Imagine our reaction if there was a large percentage of Christian churches in the United States where the priests and pastors were recommending violent murder every Sunday from the pulpit. Why do we tolerate this same concept from other countries, especially when it has lead to a 40 year trail of terror? And especially when their governments allow their people little freedom to ignore the state sponsored hatred.

The multiculturalist dogma of our elite left and their co-conspirators in the Mainstream Media has forced an appeasement and even acceptance of all cultures as equal, even violent Islam. As such, we've wasted months and months dickering in the UN and in other showy displays of international diplomacy, only to see the threat continue at all levels across many Western, freedom oriented nations.

It is time to rise up and loudly denounce any and all sources of media in this country that are failing to acknowledge and support our ideological and physical war with Islamic jihad.

I applaud Jim Miller, Stefan, Matt and Andy for doing so. Demand the same from other Puget Sound media.

This Jewish American enemy of all terrorism rejects utterly your xenophobic, fear- and ignorance-driven hate-mongering. Stick it where the sun don't shine. You rapture monkeys are no different from the Jihadists.

9. Agree with post above: the pc chief of police has to go. He was quoted at Komo news web story as saying:

Kerlikowske said they were protecting mosques "because there's always the concern of retaliatory crime."

I would like to know WHEN there has EVER been 'retaliatory crime' in Seattle in these cases? In the Mideast, Israel is defending itself from attacks - that is self-defense. I realize there has been some problem in New York City, but that's New York, home of aggressive reactions by many of all ethnicities and genders.

"... p.c. Gil the Chief--the guy who had his own gun stolen."

The Chief has to go. What he said was slander against the entire Jewish community, which values life.

As someone said at the Portland, Ore. rally for Israel last Wednesday, "Israelis protect their civilians with bomb shelters; Hezbollah protects their rocket launchers with civilians."

Wake up, everybody - the war is here now.

11. Possibly the most revealing quote in the media regarding this incident was that of a close friend of the shooter, who essentially said the guy was frustrated because at the age of thirty, he couldn't get a girlfriend or a job.

The Islamic practice of segregating the sexes, wrapping their women in cloth and treating them solely as egg incubators and housemaids, and discouraging and denying anything sexual has created a generation of frustrated, conflicted, antisocial males. Testosterone mixed with religious dogma; not a healthy combination.

12. You rapture monkeys are no different from the Jihadists.

Really? So 'rapture monkeys' are sawing the heads off people? 'Rapture monkeys' are flying jetliners into office towers? 'Rapture monkeys' are pushing themselves into buildings and shooting up an office full of women?

You stick it, Ivan. The war is here. And guess what side you're on? Tick. Tock.

13. "He told the police that it was a hostage situation and he wanted us to get our weapons out of Israel," said one woman who heard the account from the wounded co-worker.

Naveed Haq lived in an apartment building at 2924 Nassau St. in Everett until about two weeks ago, when he abruptly left, said tenant Chris Richey. The landlady told Richey that Haq was heading to Pakistan. Richie often talked with Haq about guns and politics, though little stuck out. Richey said Haq didn't like President Bush.
If that isnt a Terrorist act on our soild I dont know what is.

"There was something strange about him," Richey said. "There was something about him I didn't like."

A friend, Andres Atencio, 29, a real-estate agent in Maple Valley, said he lost touch with Haq after high school. He described Haq as studious and friendly.

"He was pretty much just a normal guy. He was a little more toward the academic side than the average high-school person," Atencio said. "He was the kind of guy when you talked to him he was always laughing ... not outgoing but not reclusive either."

I saw these in the times story and if it doesnt point to terrorism I dont know what would. It sounds to me like something or someone happened to him after high school. By all accounts his old high school friend said he was a fairly normal guy, but then lost touch. Then you have the landlady and another tennant say that he was leaving for Pakistan (where he is from and Bin Laden is suspected of being). Not to metnion the statement about wanting our weapons out of Israel. Sounds to me like a page right out of the Jihaidst playbook. Take Hostages and make outrageous demands (i.e. take 3 soldiers hostage and demand the release of 1000's of terrorists).

14. Gosh iban, who stepped on your tail? Feeeeeeling a little vulnerable this morning? Now I know that you're not defending the actions of this crazed lunatic - you may be incredibly stupid, but you're not that incredibly stupid! So what exactly are you defending?

Or are you squawking just to hear yourself squawk? ;'}

15. Iban is just mad, because we were right about terrorists and he was wrong. He and his appeasement type think that if you just play nice with the terrorists they wont strike here and look out how wrong they were. Seattle being one of the Blueist love thy terrorist cities in the nation and yet that did not protect it from terrorism.

16. Get the moonbats on video.

There is a "silent march today [right now] to demand a cease-fire in Lebanon and Palestine and to protest Israeli bombing" (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/279409_religion29.html) in Kirkland, WA (a suburb of Seattle). This event could not have come at a worse time in light of the murder in Seattle yesterday by a Muslim man. It would be great if a number of your local readers could go over there and get march participants to answer on camera at least the following questions:

1. Will you encourage Muslim religious leaders to issue a fatwa against Osama Bin Laden and anyone who provided support to Naveed Afzal Haq?
2. How do you hold a terrorist organization like Hezbollah accountable for any ceasefire?

This way we can further shed light on the moral bankruptcy of these people (a la http://youtube.com/profile?user=josephnadir).

Thanks,
Josephnadir

17. Two words to ponder while reading initial reactions to this incident: confirmation bias.

Posted by: NotSoFast on July 29, 2006 01:35 PM
18. Note that I want to have a rational debate that acknowledges the Islamic link between almost every terrorist incident in the last 40 years. Confronted with facts and the realization that the terrorists are making the case for conservatives that want to confront, rather than appease violent Islam, Ivan simply degrades to ad hominen.

This is the state of the left today. I don't need to debate Ivan any further. An argument based on ad hominem is not an argument. Ivan, I suggest you go back to HorsesAss where you find other angry lefties that will join you in ad hominem and profanity. You will "feel" better, and avoid having to think, and that will be enough to justify your irrationality to yourself.

19. So enlighten us nsf; what particular confirmation is lacking, and how does it imply a bias?

ivan compensates for his brain dead simplicity and porcine demeanor through projection and mock-bravado.
