Public Blog

We now have a Public Blog for readers to post their own blog entries. This will replace the scoop-based "diaries" feature which we launched earlier this month. The end-goal is the same. It's a place for our very smart and engaged community to add to the discussion by contributing long articles in addition to posting comments. After playing with scoop for a while, it became apparent that the technology and user experience were not satisfactory, so the new public blog is an extension to the Movable Type that we use for our main page. Unless there are overwhelming problems with the new public blog technology, or an overwhelming outcry from our audience, I'll plan to take the scoop diaries down within a few days and exclusively promote the Public Blog.

The Sound Politics Public Blog is at http://soundpolitics.com/public/ . I've filled the home page with a few sample posts. Please add some of your own. You'll notice that the right hand side bar includes a list of the most recent entries that are posted on the main page. Once the Public Blog gets a few entries from the public, I'll add a similar feature to the side bar of the main page that will show the latest headlines from the Public Blog.

You can see more specific info on registering as an author and posting entries at the current top post on the public blog, or go directly to this page. Say what's on your mind and have some fun!

It's still new, so a few opening day glitches are to be expected. Post feedback and bug reports in a comment to this entry or email me at: theshark AT usefulwork d@t com.

1. Very cool!

(Are you going to put an RSS feed up for this one too?)

:-)

2. Jeremy -- good catch. RSS should be working on the Public Blog now. Look in the right-hand sidebar under SYNDICATION. (I only have one feed reader to check it with. Let me know if there are any problems).
