1. I was riding home from work this morning and saw a "Support Real love" bumper sticker, with the symbols of a man and a women next to each other.

Damnit people! We can't keep ignoring the damage this is causing. You CANNOT convince a homosexual to be a heterosexual. Respect all people. Stop degrading people's lives. Stop making people hide who they are.

You guys (to all applicable) make me sick.

RIP Jim

2. Why the cry-cry over your own agenda, and no respect for the passing of Jim West? Is everything always about YOU?

3. May Jim West rest in peace.
Since I believe in the powers of redemption I hope he repented for his sins and found peace as he approached death.

4. The fact is that the guy self destructed. He should not have been misusing his office, and then when that was exposed, it cause him a lot of stress, and then he began a downward spiral. It's too bad, he actually was a pretty good leader back in the day. did a lot of good for Spokane. But any time you let it go to your head and start abusing the office, you get what you deserve.

I don't really care if a person's politics are one way or the other, what matters is integrity. In the end he seemed to lose his compass, and that's ultimately what started him down the road of his own undoing.

A good lesson for those who aspire to power.

5. Steve,

Ironically your post is the political one. My post give respect to Jim West's whole life, not just his passing. Put the pieces together man.

6. Don't be silly. We aren't God no matter how much we believe we should be.

7. Gerald:
No, YOU put the pieces together. The post was simply the news that Jim West passed away. The links provided were, for the most part, supportive of Mr. West. Don't accuse others of being political when you are the one trying to inflame.

Gerald.

Yeah. Be sure to accuse others of turning somebody's death into a political statement. And don't demand others to maintain respect when clearly you're incapable of it.

9. I admired him for standing up under the beating of the Spokesman Review, the paper that did the sting on him, and "brutally outed" him. Jim West was a good man and a great mayor. I was among the thousands of people who voted to retain him as mayor.

10. Jeff B--my thoughts exactly--history and facts are what they are--let's not coronate and annoint another hero or modern day role model simply because of death; tell balanced stories--good and bad;

and Gerald at post 1: what "damage" you accuse all of? will you cry "damage" when that alleged multi-killer-arsonist in WA is given the Big Bee Sting? I think not; we are the sum of our choices and what we did with our conditions;

11. Jim West was a very honorable man, who was beaten down by the media for something he did that was questionable. Nobody can say they haven't done something that others may see as "wrong" or "inappropriate." Jim was a solid leader, honest man, and lived his life for the state of washington and especially the people of Spokane.

What a lot of people do not know is that the Spokesman Review has had it out for Jim for a long time after Jim caught wind of the shady business going on with the parking garage owned by the owners of the Spokesman.

Another fact that has not been made public, is the two men who had accused Jim of molesting them are currently in prison for false allegations of molestation against other men. Being that Jim was a man of power, and them being in prison, he was a very easy target for such an allegation.

So, to the punk at the Spokesman who tried to seek revenge on Jim, don't let me catch you on the street. I'll rip your head off and crap down your neck.

It was an honor to know Jim, work with him, and socialize with him, and I am proud to be his cousin.
