Darcy Burner gazing admiringly at her mentor, Baghdad Jim McDermott.
The photo was originally posted as part of this blog entry from the "Northwest Progressive Institute", which reports on the Burner/McDermott mutual-admiration-fest at which the photo was taken. For some reason the photo was pulled from that blog post, but at this writing the photo is still posted on the NPI website.

Posted by: Burdabee on July 21, 2006 01:24 PMYou will enjoy how Mr. "I Love Castro" tries to explain his bad behavior. Too bad the lemmings in this area will continue to vote for this doofus just because he is a "Democrat". Yet another reason to break the public school monopoly so people can learn to think.
Posted by: Burdabee on July 21, 2006 09:34 PMI presume you call him Baghdad Jim because he was one of the few Congressmen who actually understood that city well enough to know what would happen if we tried to occupy that country without allies and a reconstruction plan.
Posted by: thehim on July 22, 2006 12:06 AMSpeaking of the French, doesn't the cotton candy debutante look French? And speaking of small furry animals...that admiring glance, why, it looks like Muskrat Love!
Posted by: Obi-Wan on July 22, 2006 02:49 AMSure is a good thing that we occupied that country with allies and a reconstruction plan. It is too bad that Dhimmicrats are too damn dumb to see it (how do you lamers even function?!)
Posted by: alphabet soup on July 22, 2006 06:59 AMIs Darcy being at an event with McDermott really more likely to cause damage than Reichert hosting an event with Gingrich?
Posted by: Mel on July 22, 2006 08:10 AMWell, it seems like that to you mainly because you have no clue about the Middle East. The reality is that McDermott was one of the few Congressman who had the foresight to realize that if we tried to invade Iraq in the way that we were planning, we would not be making ourselves safer. He was trying to find ways to avoid war, which he correctly knew would help bolster al Qaeda and increase instability in the region. I just find it particularly odd that since his actions have been justified with hindsight, that people still believe in these silly notions about him being an appeaser.
Sure is a good thing that we occupied that country with allies and a reconstruction plan. It is too bad that Dhimmicrats are too damn dumb to see it (how do you lamers even function?!)
With all due respect, what in god's name are you talking about? Do you see reconstruction happening in that country? Do you see a democracy flourishing over there? There's an intense civil war brewing there with large numbers of individual militias carrying out their own forms of justice and retribution. The amount of violence and torture going on there is staggering. This year alone, there have been 6000 murders in Baghdad, many at the hands of Shiite militias who have some representation in the elected government.
What's happening over there is a serious situation, and it requires that Americans start recognizing the reality on the ground and stop making excuses for this idiots who created this mess. There is no tooth fairy, alphabet soup, it's time to grow up.
Posted by: thehim on July 22, 2006 08:26 AMWhat are you talking about? You forgot to mention the 100's of thousands slaughtered at the hands of old Saddam himself, his war that killed 1M, his kicking out of UN WMD inspectors and years of non-compliance to UN sanctions, and your hero, Clinton looked the other way.
Yes, the same billy who looked the other way when a million Rwandans floated down the river 12 years ago.
You need to grow up
And by the way, where on earth do you get the notion that Bill Clinton is my 'hero'? Do you have some bizarre notion that I feel the way I do because I pledge fealty to Democrats? I didn't vote for Al Gore in 2000. I didn't vote for Christine Gregoire in 2004. I'm far from a party loyalist, I'm someone who knows what happens when people start believing things because they want to believe them, rather than the result of careful analysis.
No one anywhere doubted the fact that Saddam Hussein was a threat to his people and needed to be removed, even Jim McDermott. When you wrap your head around that, and the fact that those who were trying to avoid a war in Iraq in 2002 and 2003 weren't Saddam sympathizers, but students of history who knew what would lie ahead. This administration told fairy tales about what they'd be able to accomplish in Iraq and you foolishly believed them. Get over it. At some point, you need to stop listening to the people who keep being wrong all the time.

Posted by: Gas Pump Man on July 22, 2006 09:20 PMYou claim to have not voted for Al Gore in 2000, or the Queen in 2004. Did you vote for someone else, or not vote? I thought so, please put down your crack pipe and participate in society.
Saddam defied 16 UN resolutions. You love to bash the Bush administration, so please tell us what would you do differently in Iraq? What would you suggest we do? Another UN resolution? You claim that the administration doesn't have a plan. Please enlighten us, what is your plan? I thought so, cut and run.
I'll be kind. You are an idiot, but I'll temper that comment because I can tell from your writing that you are young and stupid. You don't obviously don't understand the Arab culture. You, like most limp dick liberals, seem to think, that your imagined cultural and intellectual superiority will convince our enemies, i.e., the Islamofacists, will see the light and negotiate a surrender. What you don't understand is that our enemies prey on weakness, which is what you offer. I'll clue you in, they respect strength.
You live in La-La land. They hate us, and want to kill all non-Muslims. You think that you're so progressive that you can negotiate with them, and that they will be in awe of your progressivism. Perhaps for a second, then they'll slit your throat.
"Without a strong US..." What planet are you on? You seem to have fallen prey to the limp-dick foreign policy debate. If we're not stronger now than we have ever been because we're standing up to tyrants, then please enlighten us on how we can be stronger through negotiation and surrender.
You're right, we need to stop listening to people who are wrong all the time, and that starts with you.
Does that mean you'll quit posting on this site?
