More on Roulstone

Jerry Cornfield from the Everett Herald covers Doug Roulstone's fundraiser with Newt Gingrich yesterday here, and also offers an astute analysis of the race in this column. Cornfield's column touches on a theme I raised in a post on Roulstone earlier this week. That theme in a nutshell is this: faster please.

1. A hearty concurrence on this one Eric. One gets the impression that Roulstone is gathering steam, but we've yet to see a solid firing on all 8 cylinders. As we've been reminded a lot lately, it's only July -- but by this time next month I expect a more well developed effort, complete with good signage and interviews with local newspaper editorial boards...

In other news, did you see Rick Larsen on the Colbert Report? I'm not a Colbert fan, but he really makes Larsen look stale -- true, it's all part of the show concept, but wow, no sense of humor in there at all.

2. Oops, here's that linky to the Colbert episode with Larsen.

3. Doug who?

Should have been a little more action than there has been, IMO. I suppose he has all his ducks lined up and ready to fly, but I agree with Cornfield's assessment.

4. Eric Earling's comments on Mon Jul-12-2006 are still true

There are 3.5 months till Election Day, and if Roulstone thinks a 60 Day Blitz starting Labor Day Weekend will unseat an incumbent, he's confused

Roulstone needs to get out, doorbell, and walk in parades in his district

I agree that listing all the out of state endorsements essentially clogs up the webpage, and w/ the exception of McCain, I'm more interested in who supports Roulstone locally

To BCA
a) Roulstone needs to post on his website his physical campaign headquarters to be a valid challenger
b) w/ the exception of 1 or 2 major names, endorsements from across the nation just clutter up the website
c) Eric's criticism is founded

Rick Larsen was born in Arlington, attended the local public schools, and got a BA at PLU. The Jul-12th post about Larsen being sometypye of carpetbagger is absurd

Roultone can probably win the election, but he needs to do more than having two fundraisers w/ Dick Cheney and Newt Grinich and a disorganized website

5.

Rick Larsen is beatable. Very beatable.

Roulstone is gaining momentum and with McGavick leading the ticket, both will win in November.

Do people in Arlington, Burlington, or Blaine really want Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House?

Do they really want to be represented by a guy (Larsen) who votes with McDermott over 85% of the time?

Some do. But most don't.

6. What do you mean "gaining momentum"? When will the rubber hit the road? If you guys wait any longer, the election will be over. The old traditional time frames for an election don't apply in this day and age of the mail-in ballot.

You need to have the election won by the middle of October.

7. Just as I suspected, Green Lake Mark is afraid to put his money where his mouth is. Eric--why dont you shut your trap and get out there and work for Roulstone. The signs are in, and he could use doorbellers. Its time for the limousine Conservatives (you know, the ones that like to log on and criticize but dont do jack shit for our party) to shut the hell up and start working.

8. BCA -

Well, if the '97 Honda Civic and '92 Toyota Camry that occupy the Earling family garage make me a "limousine Conservative" then so be it. And since I've spent most of my professional career working for Republicans then I suppose you're right, I haven't done much for the party. Or since I've run for and won public office to advance conservative ideals, I guess that means I haven't been working much for the conservative cause. Not to mention the fact my Roulstone posts actually publicized his campaign (especially right before the Gingrich event) at a conservative political site where readers might find it of interest. I guess all that makes me a real bastard. Would you rather everyone just wait until the election is over to offer constructive criticism that could improve the campaign?

9. The Roulstone campaign headquarters is listed on their website on the "Contact" page.
