Darcy Burner praises Bush success in Iraq War

President Bush is visiting Medina tomorrow to headline a campaign event for Congressman Dave Reichert, who by the way is the most centrist member of the state Congressional delegation. Reichert's independent voting record notwithstanding, the local nutroots are suffering from a serious bout of Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) this week. Symptoms include a scheduled die-in and a madcap effort to raise money for Darcy Burner's implausible congressional campaign.

At the risk of raining on Darcy Burner's attempt to rain on Congressman Reichert's parade, I quote from Darcy Burner's own statement at the Daily Kos

our troops have done everything we have asked them to do...

We asked them to topple a brutal dictatorship, and they did it faster than anyone believed possible.

We asked them to secure the nation and make sure there were no weapons of mass destruction, and they did that.

We asked them to keep the peace while the Iraqis formed an interim government and negotiated a constitution, and they did that.

We asked them to hold back an increasingly violent insurgency while Iraqis held another election, and they did that.

I've believed all along that the liberation and reconstruction of Iraq would be difficult but ultimately successful. Despite the inevitable challenges and setbacks that occur in every war, the big picture is that we're winning and we need to persevere. And this issue, in spite of some of my other disappointments with national Republicans, is the single most important reason to support the President and Republican Congressmen like Dave Reichert. I'm pleased that Darcy Burner agrees that we're winning the war. But that's all the more reason to re-elect Congressman Reichert and keep the Congress in the hands of the party that is committed to finishing the job and which will not surrender while we're ahead.

1. Silly Darcy -- she's just cost herself all the leftist moonbat support and cash. Since that's now the base of the Democratic Party, she's doomed.

2. Nah, she'll claim that while the troops are doing a magnificent job, they all need to come home right the heck now because Iraq was a horrible mistake. Brought on by a fascist President with the aim of stealing Iraqi oil.

At least, that's what she'll say on Kos. Out of the realm of Mom and Dad's basement, she'll repeat more of what you posted, Stefan.

I find it interesting that she's even posting on Kos. Normally, full time candidates are too busy for that. Kos and the other moonbat sites should divulge how much $$$$ they're getting from Howard Dean to front the dnc's candidates.

3. National security is too important a task to leave to the leftists.

4. ..and let's remember that Hillary Clinton just GOT BOOED at Take Back America when she told the crowd they should support the troops!

5. The left cannot win the war argument. No matter what they try to say. Just read the "Revenge of Marxism" post for more info. The left is ideologically in bed with Muslim Fanaticism whether they admit it or not. Sure you get the more mainstream like rhethoric from Hillary and Darcy that attempts to paint a less than fully opposed to the war stance, just-in-time for the midterm elections.

But the boos from the Nutroots Whacky Left, Die-Ins, Blocking the Port of Olympia, glorification of Ehrin Watada deserters, relentless attacks by John Murtha based on lies of US Troop atrocity, etc. all paint a different picture. Those that control the power levers on the left have long since decided there will be no budging on their anti-war stance.

6. I agree with you on a lot of things, probably most things, but not on Reichert.

I don't think he is centrist. He is a big promoter of VAWA, about the most orthodox feminist ideology driven legislation in existence. Any politician that supports the erosion of my Constitutional and civil rights simply for the purpose of political expedience will gain no support from me.

Yes, sometimes you need to compromise and settle for less than you'd like in a politician. But, I think that if more fathers in Reichert's district knew the sort of policy and ideology he supports, and the fact that their rights as parents no longer exist as such, they would not vote for him.

7. So, Bananaland, are you going to vote for darcy instead? Or stay home? This logic makes no sense. You reject someone who agrees with you 90% of the time in order to elect someone who disagrees with you 100% of the time.

I thought temper tantrums were reserved for children.

8. All you have to do is ask - who would be better for our nation's security - Burner or Reichert ? Reichert by a landslide.

9. Stefan, you're still a jackass, drawing ridiculous conclusions that make absolutely no sense. No wonder you've lost credibility with reporters here in WA.

Oh -- and MES?

"Silly Darcy -- she's just cost herself all the leftist moonbat support and cash. Since that's now the base of the Democratic Party, she's doomed."

Take a look at this reaction from "a moonbat":

Your blurb about our troops and the mission
is amazing! So clear and concise. Our troops have done everything asked and more, yet politicans have failed to give them the complete mission. The troops will get us to wherever we need to be. Best fighting force in the world. They do truely put us to shame with their sacrifice.

Seems you wingnuts are pretty clueless.

10. Janet -
Temper tantrum or not, I am not in Reichert's district. If I were, I'd sit out, or vote for a Libertarian candidate.

I've got a baseline below which I will not cast my vote. That baseline involves believing that a candidate cares about my Constitutional rights. Drop below that line, I can't vote for even a Republican. Plenty of other otherwise Republicans agree with me.

11. Methinks that having such a weak candidate like Darcy running against a moderate like Reichert spells trouble for both Darcy and Cantwell.

12. Methinks seeing wingnuts like Bananabrain rag on Dave Reichert for an obscure position like VAWA and threaten to withhold his vote bodes very well for Darcy. GO Bananas.

13. Look forward to seeing all of you Darcy supporters out on the streets of Carnation. You make sure she brings her buddies Ron Sims and Dwight Pelz with her if she ever decides to speak in public (not in front of her San Francisco friends) to help us understand where she is coming from. She only needs to keep hidiing from he public another 5 months until the election.

16. mountolympus - go crawl back in your hole - your comments are
a$$inine and ridiculous. Go back over to HA with your fellow multiculturists and spew your propaganda elsewhere.

17. Banana, you are right. Dave Reichert is not a moderate, conservative, or liberal. Other than spend a lot of money it's tough to see what he stands for - typical of so many "Republican" now days. I think his only campaign slogan should be, "vote for me I spend like a drunken sailor.", or "I support the troops at least when they are dead, and the live ones can rot in prison".

18. I think his only campaign slogan should be "Thank God I'm not supported by worthless a$$holes like not~quite~a~liberal~john!"
