An Absence of Credibility
Dean Logan Pinocchio
As Jonathan Bechtle posted above, Keith Ervin of the Seattle Times reports today that Dean Logan was busted telling a lie about his whereabouts during Monday's Council meeting on mail-only voting. Logan has a long record of telling lies and half-truths, and of concealing critical information from the public on issues big and small. The Council is scheduled to hear his answers to public concerns on June 19th before deciding whether to force everyone in the county to vote by mail. My general concerns about mail-voting are magnified by the fact that I don't trust Dean Logan to manage the process fairly, securely, transparently and honestly. And I'm hardly alone1. The Council's vote-by-mail decision should in large measure be a referendum on whether the county has confidence in Dean Logan. This latest incident is a helpful reminder about his overall credibility.

The other interesting thing in Ervin's report is that Councilmember Bob Ferguson, one of the proposed ordinance's sponsors, is raising new questions about King County Elections' ability to implement mail-only voting:

[Ferguson] said he was troubled not only by Logan's absence ("a serious lapse in judgment") but also by information presented Monday about staff vacancies Logan has been unable to fill in his office.

"I have to have confidence that the Elections Department has the resources and staff and the ability to make that change. Right now I'm not sure if I believe that's the case," Ferguson said.

Good.

[Can any of our Photoshop-savvy readers come up with a photo of Dean Logan with a long Pinocchio nose?]--

1 The biggest applause line in Monday's Council hearing was when Councilmember Larry Gossett asked Phil Bevis why he thought that people had lost trust in King County to manage elections fairly. Bevis' reply: "Because Dean Logan is still employed".

1. My skills are limited, but I'll give it a shot later today. Also appropriate: "Where's Waldo?"

3. Congrats to Phil Bevis for seizing the moment!!!
Gossett teed it up for him and Phil RIPPED it!!
I'll bet Gossett looked like somebody skull-f*cked him!! What a KLOWN!

And I cannot resist this one...
We have Phil Bevis....
Does that make Dean Logan Butthead!!!
I'd love to see the great debate on fair elections and forced vote-by-mail between Bevis and BUTTHEAD!!!

4. Hopefully some folks with the expertise in Public Records Requests will ask for all correspondence between Logan, his staff, the Council & Ron Sims regarding his absence, a copy of his calendar etc.

Logan has had a huge credibility gap with folks that believe in free, fair elections.
His gap is now a chasm.
He must resign or be fired.

I didn't bust Logan Jeff B.,,,,he busted himself.
There are A LOT of folks that feel he is a weasel and has given a black-eye to Washington Elections.
Apparently Dean's walls have ears!!!
And there are folks in Logan's Department with INTEGRITY and a CONSCIENCE!!!
King Kounty is NOT 100% corrupt.

6. "Because Dean Logan is still employed."

Whoa! I get the punchline; though--who's Phil Bevis?

7. Stephan,

How about calling the state supreme court and ask if anything unusual happened between the afternoon oral arguments on June 6, 2006?

It's amazing that a guy can't even get arrested in that courtroom for threating the chief justice of the state supreme court. They aren't going to arrest me because there would be a trial and the justices, McKenna, Greoire and about 100 others do not want to be forced to answer questions from me under oath.

If they weren't afraid that I can prove all of my criminal allegations, I'd have been arrested on Tuesday.

The reality is, they know I can prove them.

Anybody else want to call the state SC; the number is 360-357-2077.

8. oops--just researched it. Didn't know it would be that easy. Phil Bevis is the Republican 43rd District chairman. Phil, it must be tough being a republican in that district.

9. One of the most difficult cult of people to stomach are those who lie when the truth will do. Know what I mean?!
This is the tip of the iceberg I would guess.
E-mails, phone messages and calendars may even be more revealing.
I presuming they will be requested and reviewed.

10. Michelle,

Not only is Phil in the 43rd, but so is Stefan and so am I. We're a small but very happy family, most of the time :)

Way to go, Phil!

11. Ferguson is the swing vote - it would be justice if he was swayed to vote against all-mail voting thanks the Dean the Dork Logan's antics. People will need to speak out so he sees the real truth that is being clearly hidden by Deanron and the shrew Ms. Patterson.
