Fence blogging

I'll take a rare respite from politics to give an unsolicited testimonial to the craftsman who just finished building us a new fence for the back yard.

If you're in the market for a new fence, we happily recommend:

Joel Kennedy, Seattle Cedar and Stone Construction, 206 524 6765
He did a great job for a fair price and was a pleasure to work with. He also builds decks. Photos of the new fence follow --

Along with the new fence, we have two new gates, which we've named, respectively,

Bill
and

Melinda

1. Are you going to be able to keep Roger Rabbit out of your carrot garden with the fancy new fence?

2. Nice job!

we'll keep him in mind when we decide to replace ours!

(I thought you would name your gates...Canada and Mexico...snicker...)

6. Re: the gate names. My personal preference for one of them would have been Brandenburg...

8. Nice fence, remember to stain it ASAP.

9. Is that real wood you used?

That fence doesn't look very "sustainable" to me!

I'm filing a complaint with Steve Nicholas of the Office of Sustainability and Environment.

10. That's a good-looking piece of work. It sustains your faith in America, despite all, that there are so many good, independent small businessmen and women out there who do good work at a good price and treat their customers well. I've had almost nothing but good experience with contractors since I bought my house. I need a new fence, too. The old one is falling down, and it turns out that it isn't on the property line, either. It'd be kind of far for these folks to come for a job, though.

11. Very funny.

BTW, do they do as good of a job - as in border fencing? Namely the US-Mexico and US-Canada border?

12. I just got done talking to this business and unfortunately I live too far away from him but from the pictures of his work and what he said on the phone I wish we lived closer so I could get a bid from him on a new deck for my house. I liked how pleasant he was and seemed genuinely a nice person. I like to do business with people like that because that is their livelihood and they usually try harder to do a great job. Thank you Stefan for putting Seattle Cedar and Stone Construction on your web site. I will do business with people like that in a heart beat.

13. Melinda looks bit flat-chested to me... other than that, very nice looking!

BTW, does anyone know a good, reasonbly priced survey crew? Since we bought our house in 2003 I've always thought the old existing fences were not on the actual property line. I would like to change that.
