Mail Ballot Horror Show (I)

Bob Edelman reports on the strange case of Trudy Garman / Trudy Wiseblood.

Among the mailbox voters challenged by Lori Sotelo last fall were Trudy Garman and Trudy Wiseblood, both claiming residence at the Pony Express Mail & Business Centers, 16541 NE Redmond Way, Redmond.

As it turns out, the two Trudys share a birthday, August 14th, albeit in different years, 1934 and 1939. And even though they both claim residence at a mailbox, neither actually receives mail at her mailbox, they have their absentee ballots sent to separate mailing addresses -- in California.

Oddly enough, these two addresses are only 3.7 miles apart!

It gets weirder -- the two Trudys have identical penmanship!

Deanron and Dow Constantine were both sufficiently committed to defending both Trudys' right to vote that they voted at last November's canvassing board meeting to reject Sotelo's challenges of both of the Trudys' registrations.

1. Those don't exactly look identical to me. Seems like someone is confusing improbable and impossible.

2. I'll be sure to look you up the next time I need to change some dollar bills, giffy. So how many $7's are there in a $50?

3. Moron alert. What a waste of air. Suppose you define "improbable."

4. Giffy,

If you were (are?)a ballot inspector you would reject every ballot because the signature is not "identical" to the registration signature. These examples are as close as it gets without using a rubber stamp or signature machine.

5. Maybe I missed it, but the obvious question should be if this person (or persons) lives in California, why are they registered in King County? Somehow I doubt this person is attending college or in the employee of the federal government.

6. Give Giffy a break. He/she hasn't had a job since being laid off from Mary Mapes production team at CBS News.

7. Is California's statewide voter data base available on-line yet? Are the two Trudys coincidentally regeistered to vote there? Or even one of them?

Posted by: Hopliphile on May 15, 2006 09:54 AM
8. It is obviously the same person signing both. The "Trudy" and "Santa Rosa" are as close to identical as it gets.

Why is she receiving these in CA? How long has she been receiving ballots to those CA locations? What are those locations, more mail drop boxes?

How many are sent out of state each election?

Anybody check those names against other databases for marrige and driver's licenses?

Being about 70 years old she's likely been married once or twice. Are those names and addresses also registered to vote in CA?

9. WOW! Wouldn't it be something if these two Trudys met each other! They would be so amazed at what they have in common---CA residences even though they both register to vote at the SAME mailbox in Washington, birthdays, handwriting! It's a good thing this isn't a case of double-voting! I mean, THAT would be bad, right??????? It's a good thing we've been told by Dean logan and Sam Reed that there's been no evidence of fraud anywhere, right??????

10. Yes, it is IMPROBABLE, but not entirely IMPOSSIBLE that Giffy was born without at least two functioning synapses (possibly not even connected) in his melon.

They don't have to look IDENTICAL for a handwriting expert (or even a casual observer) to see the glaring similarities in the two examples. Look a the "R", the "S" and the "n" in Santa Rosa, the "5" in both the address and the date, and the first name in the signature.

If this isn't the same person, then Giffy is the King of England.

11. On what grounds did "Deanron" and Constantine reject the challenge and allow these votes to stand? Is that a matter of record, or hidden somewhere dark and secret?
Related thoughts:
1) Those two signatures (and handwriting samples) are so close to identical that I suspect that would be good evidence in court. Even I, with no expert credentials, can point to frequent matches in letter shape, height, loops, connections and slants.
2) The coincidence of A) two people with nearly the same name, B) having a residence 3.7 miles from each other in the same state, C) voting in the same election, D) having handwriting that is over 90% identical, E) "living" in the SAME mailbox facility in Redmond, F) Sharing the same birthmonth and day, and being 2 different people, is surely astronomically small.
I guess King County thought that number was large enough to allow the vote.
I wonder if the postmarks on the return envelopes survive?
It doesn't matter WHO this clone voted for--R or D--they need to explain this to a judge.

12. Just another example of why mail balloting is not secure and why using signatures is just above using nothing as a form of authentication.

Our system is a joke. And it allows for Joel Connelly's friends and Trudys from California to vote as often as they'd like to influence the election for Democrats.

Not my Governor.

13. Remember how vigorously Goldstein defended the rights of these "voters" last fall? You've got to admire Goldstein's passion for counting every vote. He even wants to count the votes from California.

14. If you google the full zipcode of the "garman" address, it is not residential. There are hits for a business and the phone rings for a business in Boston. Executive answering knows nothing about a Trudy. Company is called War Stories.

15. 122 Calistoga Road is the address of the local UPS Store ... obviously another postal box.

Posted by: TG on May 15, 2006 07:44 PM
16. 122 Calistoga Rd is the address for a business or mall type of structure according to Google Maps. Obviously she doesn't "live' there either. 597 Wild Oak Dr is in a residential neighborhood.

20. ok....how many cross state voters are there???...not just here in Washington....SP caught Joel Connelly aiding and abetting the process with his multiple voters from out of state...Joel how many other states are you voting in? Is this the real ratffff he was worried about getting caught with??? How many states is Garman voting in? How about the doctor from Georgia that votes from Queen Anne how many states is he permanently living in?

END Permanent Absentee voting NOW and how much of the nation goes from Blue to Red States?

John Fund at the WSJ you have any idea how many cross ste voters could there be?

A million moonbats with 5 ballots each and that is 5 million more votes between states but so distributed that it probably won't skew the results enough to raise a flag but that could have been 100,000 to 150,000 more vote here in Washington with Joel Connelly/Garman/GA Doctor Voters. The only problem…the system went wacky here and broke down and the Queen did not get the automatic win so SP and the Shark, et. al. start finding all this.

This is another view of the distributed vote fraud that there were so many posts on. But in this case no way to cross reference each state’s database with the others…the perfect scheme!???!?????

When you’re a moonbat you are righteous in all you do….I see now how much of a slam dunk it would be to register all over this state and country slowly of course of the course of 15 to 20 years and drop hints over a coffee to my friends on how to do it to keep abortion legal and the evil republicans at bay.

21. My favorite part is that, from the mailing labels, the voter ID numbers are sequential.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

22. It ain't what you see on "CSI" folks. For Giffy et al: Much of the science of handwriting analysis does not look for "identical" matches but similarities or patterns in unique techniques. Example: the nt in both Santa(s) printed as one continuous letter forming the t from the n with the crossbar covering the n and t. Example: the T for both Trudy signatures formed with a J like stroke.

This needs to go to Maleng - not Logan.
These are both excellent "Q" or "questioned" documents. Find either "Trudy," obtain "K" or "known" writing from her, and it will be very interesting. That's what the enforcement folks with King Co should be doing.

26. glock: It's obvious that either both ballots were written by the same person, or by one person meticulously copying the other's handwriting, or by two people each meticulously copying a third person's handwriting. It would be possible that Ms. Garman or Wiseblood is in fact innocent of wrongdoing and that one of the ballots was faked by someone else faking her handwriting. Not sure why anyone would bother, but it's possible. On the other hand, I can see no innocent explanation for the two ballots to have such similar handwriting. At least one of the ballots is fraudulent.

27. Having worked with a large number of folks of Filipino descent, I have noted their penmanship is fairly unique. Additionally, with most of the duplicate voting shown here on SP, I have also noticed that a significant number of the duplicates have penmanship that closely matches the uniqueness of the above mentioned Filipino unique penmanship. Has anyone else noticed this?
