Support a woman's right to choose

The King County Council Committee of the Whole will be briefed by Deanron Monday morning on proposed ordinances for mail-only voting. The twin ordinances, proposed by Democrats Bob Ferguson and Julia Patterson, would direct

[Deanron] to conduct all primary, special, and general elections in King County entirely by mail ballot beginning on a date in 2007 to be determined by [Deanron].
and also appropriate $1,835,446 of your taxdollars to take away your right to choose to vote at a polling place.

That's odd, because one of Bob Ferguson's most recent campaign promises was to "support a woman's right to choose" . Julia Patterson has also accepted campaign contributions from NARAL, so I guess she must have also told someone that she supports the right to choose. And listen to what Deanron told a NARAL rally earlier this year

we know the bottom line is that government has no role in the decisions that women will make.

The government should be supportive. That is a precious right, and if this country cannot ensure the right to choose? What country will? What country will? Where is the grand experiment in the whole world? Nothing has ever existed like this! My God! I'll tell you there is a line in the sand. There is a line in the sand. There is a line to rights, to privacy rights, to choice, and on the other side there is another line and that line says, "Backroom Alleys." Well, "Backroom Alleys No More!"

Indeed. First these people pretend to be pro-choice, but then they try to take away your right to choose how to vote, and to force all of us to have our votes counted in Backroom Alleys by members of the Teamsters Union. Sheesh.

Call your Councilmember and call the Executive's office and tell them that you don't want your vote counted in Backroom Alleys, you want the right to choose how to vote and that this is your line in the sand.

1. Democrats. It's only wrong when they say it's wrong. Do as they say, not as they do.

I've met Patterson. Plastic politician with too much makeup on her face. Made me sick to even talk to her. Most politicians are an embarassment to humanity. Especially those with morality flip-flopping daily on what they think will get them reelected or help them curry favor with their fellow collectivists.

2. I'm not sure what this proposed ordinance is, but according to the poll worker training I just completed last Saturday (I'm going to be an accessible voting judge this time), all-mail "fraud" voting is a done deal, and will start next year. They stated that this had already happened.

What's the deal?

3. Are the ballots going to counted at a different location than they have been? Will partisan and non-partisan observers no longer be able to observe the ballot counting process?

"...then they try to take away your right to choose how to vote, and to force all of us to have our votes counted in Backroom Alleys by member of the Teamsters Union."

How are the teamsters involved? I'm sure it would be a terrible thing if the ballots were counted by people with decent wages and health care benefits.

Will there be options for those who would rather not fill out their ballots at home or mail them in?

Wouldn't a more uniform voting system throughout the county make it easier to ensure accuracy?

4. good post, Stefan. I shall call said officials.

5. IF I vote again in this State (and it is doubtful) I will make only one mark on my FORCED Mail-In Ballot ... the word "FRAUD", in bold letters. It probably won't make it to the ballot box anyway, so why not??? This State is finished as a representative entity, it's all over!

6. Gene, if you write FRAUD on your ballot, the DeanRon people will evaluate your intent and mark the democratic candidate boxes for you. And to those that reference the Teamsters and their help counting/losing/marking ballots, let's take that as a generic term, seeing as the Machinist and Service Employees unions are all to eager to help commit the ongoing fraud.

7. Why would anyone take the name of a specific union as a generic term? If he referenced Tully's in his article would we be expected to understand that he meant any place that sells coffee?

Posted by: eric on May 12, 2006 12:57 PM
8. No one (except apparently you) is using a "specific union as a generic term". The elections staff that actually process the ballots are members of the Teamster union.

"I'm sure it would be a terrible thing if the ballots were counted by people with decent wages and health care benefits."

Wages and health care benefits have nothing to do with it. Rank partisan politics do. "You can take the Teamsters out of the politics, but you can't take the politics out of the Teamsters".....

9. 1 Will it make a difference if anyone shows up Monday May-15-2006 at 9:30AM
2 Besides calling all King County Council Members and Ron Sims, what else can those who are busy working Monday do to shift it to a no vote
3 After Mr Ferguson beat the machine candidate, I'm disappointed that he chose to propose this amendment. He can do better

10. One thing I am doing is getting petitions for County Choice, I932. I think a new county would be a way to get my vote counted. I could have a representative government, that I could be in touch with, thus the new county would be accountable to it's residents.
This can't happen without the law in place.
I932 is the law that would allow for creation ov new counties. i do not believe my vote will ever count in King county. It might if we broke the county up, and made it more manageable.

How did you connect these two issues in a post? I guess my question is why? Regardless of what you believe, it seems kind of odd since the two are at opposite spectrums of our social world.

12. Soup,

Kinda ruined eric's program eh?
Something about facts . . . . thanks for clarifications

13. Hey eric.

I suppose now that you know that the elections staff are Teamsters Union members you are going to tell us that there is no reason anyone might ever think that having our votes counted by them in backrooms is questionable.

I'm sure you would also be very comfortable to have the Building Industry Association of Washington do the final tally and issue the final elections certification.
While the BIAW is not in the habit of creating spreadsheets without column summaries, and making false reports to the voters like the Teamsters en camp with petty criminals like Deanron, they can add, subtract, and discern the difference between right and wrong.

As a shameless blind liberal apologist for petty criminals and butt pirate liberal Democrats -- you don't seem to have much more to say here.

What other half-hearted and clueless attempts at corrections do you have for us?

14. Amused,
Nothing I said was as rude as you have been. Do you have some excuse? Is it inappropriate to ask questions? I'll be waiting for your apologym, asshole.

15. amused,

Still waiting for that excuse for being so rude. What's your problem?

16. amused,

Again, here is the interaction which occurred on 12 May:

I said:

Again, what is your excuse for your insults? Did I insult you or anyone you know? Is this how you address the many 'liberal' roommates of which you are so proud of besting in 'argument'?
