Upcoming events
Two very interesting events this Tuesday evening, April 25th --
Where's The Math is holding a public forum on reforming math education: Bellevue High School Auditorium, 6:30-9:30PM
Washington Citizens for Fair Elections is sponsoring "Fixing Elections", a panel discussion on election integrity, HUB Auditorium, University of Washington, 6:30 - 10PM.
I regret that I cannot attend both.

1. "Fixing Elections"? I assume Dean Logan or Gregoire will be there and giving the lecture?
2. I may be able to attend the event in Bellevue -- and blog about it, if appropriate.
3. 1 I went to the "Sue & Fergie" show at the Kenmore Public School about the Sheriff's Department ~2 weeks ago
2 Someone left a flyer under my windshield so maybe I'll go after all thanks to Stefan's reminder
3 There is also something going on the same time at UW on cyperspace and protecting yourself
4 It is hosted by someone who receives funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
5 Toby Nixon is a pretty straight shooter.
6 I am NOT familar w/ the other folks on the panel

8. I'm helping plan the event. We will have two last minute panelists from King County Elections, Debbie Cook and Paul Miller who I understand are going to talk about the Diebold Accuvote touchscreen machines (sometimes referred to as the DAVE machine).
We hope the event is both informative and fun. Please attend!
9. I agree, if this is on Fixing Elections, Ron Sims, Dean Logan and Queen Christine should be the headliners!
10. GS,
Only if Hugo Chavez and Saddam Hussein are booked.
11. Green Lake Mark,
Back in the archives for this site there are some posts from Paul Lehto, here is a sample of that http://www.soundpolitics.com/archives/003654.html
If there is a question period, you are likely to hear some disagreements among the panelists over who was trying to "fix" the gubernatorial election.
12. I hope the panelists stick to election integrity issues. I know that Paul Lehto will speak about the fact that the software inside the machines that count and tabulate our votes is proprietary. In other words, we cannot check the work so we cannot know with certainty that the votes were counted and tabulated correctly. I think that is very scary. Holly Jacobsen has done a lot of work around the country on understanding the election irregularities from electronic voting machines on recent past elections.

I'm not sure if anyone will be addressing the registration data base issue which I understand is a hot topic on this site. However, we have planned on about an hour of Q&A and if our panelists keep to their time limits there should be plenty of time to ask questions about the voter registration data base, etc.
BTW, I am also very concerned about the possibility of KC going to all vote by mail. I think that this change will increase the potential for voter and election fraud. In addition it is more expensive even though KC election officials are saying it is not. If you read Dean Logan's report he even admits it will be more expensive!
