Not-too-brightwater

Ron Sims broke ground yesterday on his Brightwater sewage treatment plant/public art showcase.

Danny Westneat is not favorably impressed with the $1.6 billion price tag.

1. "on his Brightwater sewage treatment plant/public art showcase." - in SNOHOMISH County.....

Brings a whole new meaning to the term, "Waste Management".

Our sewage needs to be treated. Our population is expanding.

But,

1.6 billion?

How many Seattle schools need to close?

How many road projects need to be done. -- oops, I meant transportation projects..

How many homeless people need shelter?

What about these local jurisdictions? 140 million not to sue? How much could they have gotten if they did sue?

I don't live in KC, but I do live in the tax area for this monstrosity and when you really get down to it, this sewage treatment taj mahol is just a load of crap.

2. Hell has frozen over if Danny Westneat has a column containing common sense.

3. 1.6 Billion to process sh_t. Seems like we could get Sound area leftists to do it for a lot less. It's funny that they try to put a big art facade to cover up turds. That's the essence of the left. Throw enough money at anything, and they think it will beautify the underlying ugliness.

4. Anybody care to bet that after the initial swarm of left leaning visits, politcally correct school field trips, etc. that the place starts losing money and becomes a debacle?

I'm mean really. Let's say you are trying to impress a client, are you gonna take them to Brightwater? If you are a sewage treatment exec, maybe, but who else?

And gee, nothing boosts company morale like taking the troops up to the Brightwater Conference Center for an "offsite" meeting. I mean what hard working employee that you are trying to fill with fluff so they won't quit, wouldn't be impressed by sewage treatment? And they can dump some of their income at the gift shop too. You know, bring home a petrified turd for their kids.

This is what happens when government tries to do something. It's nothing but a bad joke that costs the taxpayers Billions.

5. Who pays for the maintenance of all these new parks and trails? I thought KC was closing existing parks during the winter because they didn't have the money to keep them open year round.

6. Gee, it never dawned on me that the Sewage Treatment Plant and this article in today's P-I on "Securing Your Load" might be related!!!!!!

From today's P-I (mostly):

Sims pushes poop safety
P-I STAFF

“King County Executive Ron Sims will announce a new public education effort, “Secure Your Load,” today at 10 a.m. at the north parking lot of Qwest Field in Seattle.”

I’m sure Sims is hoping David KLOWNstein and all his fanny-slppin' full-of-sh*t LEFTIST PINHEADED buddies will show up!!!!!!

7. I saw the news clip. There must have been a breakdown in city working conditions... everyone with a shovel was actually using it. I thought the city required one person on the shovel and six watching.

8. A side note, but an amusing one: As I have mentioned before on my own site, you have to admire Sims putting this in another county, where no one who can vote against him lives -- unless he makes another statewide run. What I can't figure out is how he convinced Snohomish to take it.

As for Westneat, sometimes he is right -- though he would be right more often if he read Sound Poltics more regularly. Heck, Knute Berger is right from time to time.

9. Maybe Ron Sims should considering moving his new office to Brightwater. He would be in his element.

10. > What I can't figure out is how he
> convinced Snohomish to take it.

He didn't!

He forced it on us while we fought tooth and nail against it. He used King Counties power of Eminant Domain to condem the land. Apparently that power exists even outside their jurisdiction.

The only think the Snohomish County Council could do is make it expensive for him to do it. Lots and lots of reparations to Snohomish county all paid for by King County Taxpayers. What does Ron care... it's not HIS money.

11. I believe the CASH payment portion of the Bribe to get Snohomish County to stop fighting was about 72 MILLION Dollars.

12. We should just all count our blessings that Sims has stalled at his current office. As long as he is limited to ribbon cuttings for turd plants, the danger is contained.

13. *"on his Brightwater sewage treatment plant/public art showcase." - in SNOHOMISH County.....*

Next King Ron will ship all of King Counties Hobo's up there. Just think.... They could install exterior showers, toilets, etc. King Counties Hobo problems solved.

15. inter-county cooperation; snohomish's hardened 'leftovers' from treatment plant are exported to Seattle for building materials, fill and art sculptures for that snazzy new art park downtown; or, stacked like sun-baked mud bricks, they become supports (recycled) for the new viaduct;
