Bellevue attorney John Groen is running against Chief Justice Gerry Alexander.

Anything to reshape this court from emulating the 9th Circus.
Posted by: Palouse on April 7, 2006 10:30 AM....enough said. Go JERRY!
Ummmm.....good to see you're paying attention. It's with a G.
Obviously, the intellegent support has started rallying already. Please vote for Jerry at your earliest opportunity :)
Posted by: pbs on April 7, 2006 01:20 PMBut at least he has the right judicial philosophy which will do...
Posted by: Reporterward on April 7, 2006 03:40 PMGroen is a very good many for the job.
Posted by: Don on April 7, 2006 05:53 PMTime to replace an immoral justice with one who is moral. Vote Groen !
Posted by: KS on April 8, 2006 09:20 AMBy the way it's pronounced "Gary"--not "Jerry"--Alexander. So I suppose many of the folks here don't really know much about him.
Posted by: DJ on April 8, 2006 10:03 AMWhere was your favorite justice on the Miller Decision? How about on the WEA's ability to take funds from Non-union memebers and spend it on a highly partisan political agenda without their permission? tick.tick tick.
Posted by: Smokie on April 8, 2006 11:45 AMI think you mean "aspersions", not "dispersions". In any event, perhaps you and/or your husband could clarify his earlier claim -- please list the decisions where you believe that Alexander took the "conservative" position.

Where are y-o u u-u-u?
Just like a liberal:
"It wasn't me, you can't prove a thing, and I promise to never do it again!"
Posted by: alphabet soup on April 8, 2006 03:52 PMAlexander's biggest problem is that he always tries to do what he thinks is fair, regardless of whether that actually comports with the law. That's a serious problem, one that will hopefully be addressed with his defeat this fall, but it serves no purpose to go overboard in criticizing him. Save that for Justice Owens. =)
PS -- the reasons why nobody has stepped up to take on Chambers are twofold: (1) he's loaded, so taking him on could be a very expensive proposition, moreso than Owens or Alexander, and (2) he is a genuinely thoughtful judge who often votes correctly (unless some of his trial lawyer pet issues are in play -- then he's as results-oriented as anyone).
Posted by: Hector on April 8, 2006 03:57 PMI agree with those who observe that we could do far worse than Justice Alexander. But I'm excited by the idea of a new conservative stepping up. I only wish that Justice Alexander had stepped away from the bench to allow us to properly choose a successor this year, rather than aiming for part of one more term with the governor in 2011 giving us his successor. I mean, it is true that we will be able to try to elect someone for a full term only a year later, but whomever it is will have the advantage of incumbency. If only for that reason, I think it's time for us to move on with a new conservative justice.
One more comment....I am also very excited by Senator Stephen Johnson's candidacy for the state high court. I know him personally (interned for him during the 2005 legislative session), and he will make a great justice. Then our trick will be keeping the Justices Johnson straight...

I know enough about Alexander to arrest him for any of a number of felonies and I will be doing so on May 9, at 1:30 pm.
He knows it, the AG knows it, and so do the Thurston County PA and sheriff; as well as the WSP.
One would think that threatening a judge, which is a Class B felony, would earrant some contact; but none of them have contacted me. Why? Because they know eveything I allege is true. I doubt they will arrest me, but that would be OK because there are about 150 people who do not want me to question them under oath in a court of law.

Posted by: Don on April 8, 2006 10:01 PMIn the Alexander/Groen contest, Alexander probably will win because he will be getting LOTS of money from "democrat" sources. These sources include organizations and their members such as the D. Party, and the State and Municipal Employees' Unions.
